Hi Everyone!
It started yesterday. 40mph winds for then next 2 weeks. I hate this time of year. It also seems to get worse every year. It's said the more trees that are cut down world wide there is more wind. Last night the wind split some of the poly I have on my garden right down a seam. Uhhhgggg.
We had our Salem trip today and we are both whipped. However, I wanted to share with you my broccoli. This is the first year that it has really grown well. It's because it's been so cold here this year.
The other day I went out and cut off just a few small pieces for my chicken dinner. Oh and a few peas from the garden too.
Then this AM, before we left, I got this.
Nice and big.
If you grow a garden and have to deal with heavy winds, what do you do to protect your plants?
Have a nice evening
Nicole

Good looking broccoli!
I've never grown broccoli, but congrats on your Nicole. It looks spectacular, and I bet it tastes great too.
That is some terrific looking broccoli! And we're getting high winds off and on here too -- not good for our northern wildfires.
Your broccoli looks wonderful. I like to buy the “baby” kind, which is smaller than usual, but I imagine that fresh from the garden is better!
...my problem isn't wind, it's DEER!
That broccoli looks wonderful. I used to just cut what we needed, to spread out the harvest. I think if its a dry wind, the plants can get desiccated. I'd water more if that happened.
Unfortunately,
where I live there are a lot of winds and I can't do anything to protect the plants, the same goes for the farmers and we have disasters!! Usually the plants come back!!
I hope everything goes well and you have a beautiful month Nicole!!
Despite the frustrating wind and damage, it’s wonderful to hear that your broccoli and peas are thriving. There’s something so satisfying about harvesting fresh veggies right from your own garden
If the wind is caused by increased deforestation around the world get ready for more!
Congratulations on growing. some nice broccoli. It looks delicious.
Dear Nichole your broccoli looks wonderful 👍😊
I think winds are wild at this time of the year throughout the world. We get worst sandstorms for two months which increase our house chores to great extent 😔☹️☹️☹️
I wish I could tell you something about protecting plants from wind but I don’t remember anything from days when we lived on hilltop home and mom grew vegetables in abundance.
I am curious if you have sent me any email lately because I really rarely check my email box and today when I was checking I suddenly thought of you and scrolled to January but no email from you I had . So please let me know if you really send me any if it’s okay with you 🤗
Health peace to joy to you and yours 🙏🥰
Broccoli is one of my favourite veggies. Yours looks fantastic and I imagine it tastes great too. Have a wonderful day.
Sorry to hear the weather will be windy again this week ahead of you.
Congrats on your broccoli.
Take care!
Boa tarde e um excelente terça-feira. Brócolis saborosos. Bela colheita, minha amiga Nicole.
I hear you on the wind. It has been windy here, too. Meanwhile, that broccoli looks gorgeous!
It's been quite windy here at times. Your broccoli looks great. I love it but am having issues eating it. :(
Your broccoli looks good ... keep enjoying it :)
All the best Jan
