Wednesday Post Not Lupus

 Hi Everyone!
I've only been gardening since 2014.
It started on my deck.
To view larger just click on a photo

And later that year evolved to this.

The next year I got this green house.
and then this
and my yard went from this.
to now this.

Far end pallet garden with 5 gallon buckets and 10 gallon grow bags. In the middle is the 8x4' big garden Mr. M. built for me some years ago and the little raised bed that has 2 4x2 beds.

Following the row is another pallet garden with 5 gallon bucks and 10 gallon grow bags. Then another raised bed. All of these have PVC pipe framing with poly for protection from the wind and torrential rains.

On the very far part of the  year I have started another pallet garden with 5 gallon bucket. In the dark corner is a cloche over strawberries and onions. You can just see marigolds growing too.

I cannot forget the potatoes that grow by the side of the house. They do so well here.

I can't believe 14 years have gone by with gardening and I can as much as possible from the garden. Every year the growing is different due to the crappy weather we have. Short growing time, horrible wind all summer, marine layers and cold. This year is doubly cold at night. We have only had a few sunny days each month since March. The cold is good for the brassicas and we have already eaten broccoli and beets. However, I have sweet potato slips ready to be planted but it is still too cold at night and doesn't warm up enough during the day.
Here is some nice growth.

This got big and we ate it last week.

This is not very big but it was great in tonight's dinner.

This is the broccoli growing on one side of the big garden.

Look at this nice cabbage growing with other brassicas on the end pallet garden.

Peas always do well here. There are some string beans planted with these too.

There are a lot of peas growing too. They don't mind the cold at all.

Slavia is new and doing well.

This is radishes, marigold and Italian oregano.

This is the other side of the big garden. beets, onions, carrots, radish, and cucumbers. There are some marigolds, and rosemary.

Close up of beets. We've eaten some of these and they are OMG good.

I got this plant last year. It made it though the winter

and now I have beautiful Night Sky Petunias. They are truly pretty.

Here are the sweet potato slips really ready to plant, if it would only warm up. I cut the slips from a single potato set in soil. Then the potato grew more slips. It's a wild plant. I need at a minimum of 120 growing days. I don't think it's going to happen. We will see.

That's a bit of my garden for now.
Are you growing anything this year?

Wow, you do a lot with your gardening. I have never been successful with gardening food crops. I have grown some beautiful roses (and some oxalis in my front planter) but I can’t even get tomatoes to grow. Oh, I have grown a few green onions.

Your broccoli and beets looks amazing. And I love how your yard has evolved. Gardening is such fun and addicting too, isn't it? Fun post Nicole. hugs-Erika

I'm growing potatoes and flowers! You're very ambitious with your ever increasing garden. It's great to harvest your own food.

That's not gardening -- that's large scale agricultural production, LOL!

I am so impressed, Nicole. All those shelter/greenhouses. And the potted plants are looking so large and healthy. About the only thing I'm growing are herbs and lettuce. I had spinach too but the squirrels took care of that!

Great job on your greenhouses, Nicole! I also like broccoli.

Love your garden! I also have had those night sky petunias and they are so pretty. Nothing for me this year on my patio. Didn't plan to still be here. You are doing amazing things with your short season. :)

You sure do a great job of gardening. The broccoli looks mighty fine, I love broccoli. It's nice to see how your garden grew in to what it is today.

I enjoyed seeing your garden-thank you for sharing. I miss not being able to have veggie garden-the squirrels and chipmunks here at the lake eat everything-ugh they even dug up some of my flowers I grew from seed.
I will try a tomato plant of the cherry size will see what happens and I want to try a few green beans-thought of buying netting for those-but then how do they get pollinated? take care

It’s interesting that you have this photographic record of the progression of your garden. Looks to me that you did all the right things. It’s not without effort, to be sure, but the results are terrific.
