lupus awareness day 16

 Hi Everyone!
On Friday I posted a sign about lupus and stress. I want to elaborate on this, because stress affect everyone!

For the healthy person stress can impact the body physically and mentally. So what is stress? It is everyday life. Stress is the body’s nonspecific response to any demand,
pleasant or unpleasant.
Yes, you can be stressed even in a happy event.
We are so busy, have so much going on in our lives that we don't recognize the stress. We think that this is our life and we just deal with it. It's the dealing that can lead to  various health problems, including cardiovascular issues, digestive problems, sleep disturbances, and weakened immunity.
Stress can also cause anxiety and depression, cognitive function and behavioral changes.
Those are just the basics in a healthy person.
Stress in a lupus person has all of that but the effects are much more elevated and will cause lupus flares, worsen lupus symptoms, and will have an immune system impact. Such as stress hormones, like cortisol, can weaken the immune system, making it harder for the body to regulate inflammation to all organs.
It is imperative to keep stress levels at a minimum. I try my best to remember to breath and meditate. I exerciser every day. I cleanse negative energy away with a sage bundle and burning white candles for spiritual connections, and purity. It doesn't matter who your are relieving stress is a health enhancement.
What do you do to relieve stress? Let me know in the comments.

There's eustress and distress. One is about good things happening, the other about upsetting things. I find walking, exercises, five minute meditation, and simple knitting or crochet help a lot. The fiberwork also loosens up finger joints,a bonus.

You're right about stress. True story. When I left work in 2013, I was so stressed and had been sick all the time. Very sick. (which was why I left.) For years after, I had no flares, no major problems or issues. It tells me that stress certainly played a factor, as those last two years at work were real hell for me and others who worked there. I can only imagine what it can do when you are already badly compromised.

I think most would agree, sometimes it's easier said than done to keep stress levels at a minimum.
I like to sit quietly perhaps with a book and a nice cup of tea.
For others they find a walk or doing exercise helps.
A good friend of mine listens to classical music.
I think we each (eventually) find what helps us the most.

Wishing you a happy, peaceful and stress free weekend as possible.

All the best Jan

I agree that stress is the WORST thing for everyone! I use deep breathing exercises as a stress reliever. But the best thing is to eliminate the source of stress, if possible. Don't stay in a stressful situation if you can help it.

Stress, though often seen as bad, is essential in motivating us and pushing us through personal challenges, and I’ve found that taking time for quiet reflection and creative hobbies helps me stay balanced and engaged.

I was just talking to somebody today about how I think the stress of the move not happening/slow progress/endless delays for soooo long is causing stress so that I am not recovering as well from the cancer treatment. Stress and fibro...well, you know all about how it effects you. Not in a good way. Between the limbo of the someday move and the political happenings...I think I am a bit depressed. Takes a lot with me, but this move has been in progress for going on three years come August. I feel beaten to a pulp. Sorry. Didn't mean to whine.

Thanks for sharing great and very informative post dear Nichole 👍

I appreciate how you keep readers updated about this disease. It surely can help many to identify the symptoms and start focusing on treatment.
I do meditation everyday, keep check on my thoughts and I also take help from reciting holy verses quietly during house work.
Hugs and best wishes to you both 🥰

I don’t seem to be greatly affected by stress and I am quite sure that it is because I spend every day in Nature, and that is the most soothing balm of all. A walk in a forest especially at this time of year, bedecked with flowers and blossom, seems to soothe all ills.

I exercise every day. I read frequently. Watching comedy shows also helps me. If I can start an art project and just get lost in it, that really helps me to de-stress.

A good scream always help, but not at anyone. And making art is the best dealer of stress. It takes you far away from what's bugging you, especially if you can make art just for yourself. And yes, walking helps to0, plus patting the dogs and singing and dancing around the house. Not going to work certainly helps too. :) :) Happy Sunday Nicole.
