Things I learned about CKD care

 Hi Everyone!

As promised today I will share a few things I have learned about caring for a CKD person. I am very angry at our nephrologist. The lack of information given to us could actually kill a CKD person. I have spent all month researching everything I can about CKD. OMFG!!!! The information is not only conflicting from site to site, but most of it is BS. I'm talking so called reputable sites. I had an appt with my podiatrist the other day. He asked how Mr. M. was doing. I told him not very well and what I have been doing. He gave me the name of a doctor who specializes in nutrition and other things. If you want the true facts about CKD and much more check out his site.

Michael Greger, M.D. FACLM
Founder, NutritionFacts.org

For the last month I have been preparing plant based veggie meals with an occasional meat meal. I was WRONG to do that. To keep CKD stable one must eat a total plant based diet. The protein in plants are easier on the kidneys in many different ways. I was told that Mr. M. could eat fish, lean pork and skinless chicken. According to Dr Greger, fish is the worst food for CKD as is all meat.
The videos are very short but packed with info. that is explained much better than I can do. I do love that in this video the testing was done on women.

Animal fat, meat, eggs and dairy are terrible on the kidneys, even in healthy people.
Please watch.

This is amazing and a must watch.

My only problem is that Mr. M. is a picky eater. Seriously, I have never seen a person who doesn't like most foods. However, he does eat what I cook, sometimes with a complaint about liking it. My response is, "If you don't like it, flag your ass into the kitchen and make your own meals." :)
He hates to cook. Ohhh BTW today is Mr. M's birthday. He is 70.

No, cake is not on the menu for Mr. M. but he did get some nice gifts.

I hope this information helps someone.

Happy birthday to your husband. And glad you've found lots of useful information. Are there any drugs your husband can take to slow down CKD progression? I don't know because when my husband was diagnosed both his kidneys were hardly working and he had to go on dialysis right away. And will you look into a transplant? Is that possible in his situation. hugs-Erika

Be aware that a lot of so-called health information in traditional medicine is false and unfounded. I am very skeptical about everything I was forced to learn in medicine during 90s. Most of the stuff are all disapproved now.
