Friday Face OFF Tsunami No Not Scull Art

Welcome To Friday Face OFF (FFO)

This is the place to show off your faces or your face. Post any type of face from any medium. You can create it, or find it in nature, or even that face in the design of the
woodwork in your house.
Human, animal, alien, or monster.
ANY KIND OF FACE!

Well if you watch the news you know that just south of me there was a Tsunami warning and go vac issued. It is the second one that we have had in our area since we have lived here. The first one we did have to evac to higher ground.
Today we were in Salem, far from any danger and our house was still standing when we got home. So that is good. LOL

Please forgive these terrible photos. I have no light in my house.

I was able to work on a face this week. It's not anywhere near finished but I'm happy with the progress. Even though this is not scull art it did start with one of my plastic sculls.
I cut the mouth out to a shape I liked, then applied the first layer of skin.
Using clay I put in a nose, brow and cheek bones.
Then lips and the glass eyes. These eyes are from a glass making friend of mine. I love the red on black.

Then I put a larger chin.

Add skin to any new clay. I have ptosis in my left eye so I tend to make creature with ptosis. LOL

The last thing I did, at 4AM, was paint the entire face and head with bleached titanium acrylic paint.

Tomorrow I will put in the first layer of laytex to make the skin feel real. Then paint it. Hopefully I will have him done this weekend.

Thanksgiving at my Son's house. He lives in Florida. Kids, grandkids and greatgrand kids. I so wish my daughter could have made the trip too, but as you know she is ill.

Now it's time for some features. I am always so impressed with the artist that join in FFO, and this week is no exception.

Don't forget to join in with Gillena

That's it for to today, now it's time to show me your face.

I called my son in Medford, to see if he filled the earthquake. He didn't fill it.

Very cool, looking forward to the finished skull!
And oh, such a sweet family! And yay for your house still standing OK, it must be scary. When Ingo´s apartment flooded back then... eek. I still have the bad smell of the muddy water in my nose.
My "skull" today is a happy one, btw :-)

When I first got news of the earthquake it sounded pretty serious, but I guess it was far enough offshore that it didn’t cause any serious damage. No Tsunami is a great relief I am sure.,

Oh, those red-on-black glass eyes! They peer into our very souls! And hey, thanks for the shout-out!

I suppose what I had was ptosis, but I had a blepharoplasty as it affected my vision. I love to see your sculpture work.

I am so relieved that your home was safe and you are, too. That had to be a scary warning. Wishing you a wonderful (and relaxing) week!

OO I really like what you did with that face. You are onto something there. And your family looks like a wonderful bunch. What a nice photo. Too bad you couldn't be there with them. I hope all is well. hugs-Erika

What a super family photo! And the glassy red eyes … how nicely they snuggle into the skull's sockets. :)

I'm pleased to hear that your house is still standing. Good start to your head. Thanks for featuring my cat.

This is the first time I have taken part in the challenge. It's right up my alley since I see faces in everything. Looking forward to seeing what others found. I love the head you made. So creative.
