Hi Everyone!
It's been raining all day and quiet in my house. The kind of day that I wish I had the energy to do something, anything. Both Mr. M. and I napped on and off all day. I guess we both needed it.
This year I closed my garden up early and I will not have one next year. However, in my big garden last spring, I had planted zucchini seeds. One plant took over the area and so I let it go. It was/is huge and to date I have harvested 45 zucchini from it. The root of the plant is like a small tree. I have cut it back several times and, like I said it just keeps giving. We have had hot days,(well for us) wind, rain and storms from hell in the past few months. It's like the plant thrives in any weather. Yesterday, I harvested these. So, actually this make 48.
Here is part of the root.
I still have flowers blooming too.
With no fence the deer have eaten most of my Nasturtiums |
However, the Borage has reemerged. |
These are on my deck and are so pretty. |
As are these little yellow flowers. |
Things that grow in my yard simply make me happy.
Nicole

Wonderful garden photos.
...my gardening activities have moved inside!
How do you use up all that zucchini? Is it a part of every meal?

The zucchini looks good! -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
That's one crazy zucchini plant--lol! Love all your flowers.
You both deserve the rest. Probably could use several days! :)
Fresh produce is always great grown at home
This is zucchini time of year. Usually by now every gardener we know seems to be giving them to us and we eat them every way imaginable and stuff the freezer with zucchini bread. This year it hasn’t happened though. I’ll have to find out why!
That is a lot of zucchini for one plant. I do wish I had luck growing vegetables.
Sorry to read you won't have a garden next year Nicole as I know you love to produce your own food. But that zucchini sounds great. That's a whole lots of fruit. I think I got only 4 or 5 from my plant. If it keeps on giving, I'd let it go as long as possible. Have a super new week. hugs-Erika
Your garden looks lovely. Oh, those nasturtiums! We didn't have a garden this year (I have a notoriously black thumb!) but in anticipation of rising prices next year we are talking seriously about trying one. Our challenge is where? I'm gone all summer and the soil at the lake isn't the best (or the light, for that matter). I am also stockpiling items that we use that are imported (including paints, art supplies, clothing, etc.) in anticipation of rising tariffs/meaning rising prices. Not sure when all that will go into effect, but it will make an impact.
I love seeing things grow, too. Unfortunately, I don't have good gardening skills and this is best left to those who know what they are doing!
I slept in on Sunday till 10:30!!!! This weather beats me.
WOW on your produce. "Part of the root"? WOW.
Now I want zucchini.... "Sadly" I have kale, though.... (yum).
