Hi Everyone!
Today I had to do a repeat MRI on my brain and cervical spine. The one I had done 3 weeks ago was done without contrast. I asked and then told my (non ) health provider that the order needed to be with contrast. She just wouldn't listen. WTF? When my spine doctor saw the images he asked why weren't these done with contrast? He told me the spots on my brain can't been seen in an MRI without contrast. He ordered the new ones. I had a new MRI tech that didn't know how to put and IV in my arm. I had to show her. Again WTF!
It was a day.
All year I read the Farmer's Almanac and other places to know what the weather is going to do. None of them spoke of the snow that we have been getting. So of course I started my seedlings according to the information I had. uuhhggg. They are growing faster than any of the previous years of my gardening. I guess it is the grow light? I ordered a second one because my seedlings are already beginning to be starter plants. With the dark days I will need the second light.
Over the weekend I made some clay pieces. The are dry now to this week I will get them painted.

Gosh, I can't believe that the MRI tech wasn't able to do an IV and I hate when the health provider act like they know better than the doctors. I really hate the American health system, it is crap.

My BIL is a doctor, has his own MRT-machine and NEVER works without that contrast. It´s expensive, though.

ReplyDeleteYes--WTF!? Sounds like the place I was at (Essentia) before I just switched to Sanford Health system. So frustrating! I hope they got everything right this time. Those MRIs take the longest of any of the scans and are the most claustrophobic, I thought. I hope you have some positive results.

So sorry Nicole, I don't understand what is happening with our health providers in recent years- funny I read the farmers almanac too and we were to have lots of snow in february-didn't happen which I am happy about. Your dirnk looks delicious I used to make that instead of buying it Happy T

ReplyDeleteThe weather here is strange also. We had late spring yesterday, but in about a week we are likely to have mid-winter again.

A friend of mine swears that Beauregard sweet potatoes are the best. I hope you have success with yours.

Happy T-day, Nicole! I would be very upset about the MRI mishap. Now you have another MRI and another doctor visit. Urgh. I had to have the contrast MRI on my head and chest a few weeks ago and I was worried they left me in there too long - I almost pressed that panic button. I decided to count to 10 and they pulled me out at 9. Thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteGreat clay pieces, sweet start to your garden, and the drinks you wish you had look yummy. I am off alcohol now possibly for the rest of my life due to medicine - I haven't regretted it yet but pictures like that one make me want a sip at least. LOL.

Med people who don't listen to the patient are so frustrating. It's like you don't know anything about your own body and tests that you have done before. I get that with my hives because they always ask what I have been doing different when it is my immune system not shutting off after some kind of immune response. I can relate, and I'm sorry you had to deal with that. A nice drink like yours is exactly what you probably needed. And your seedlings look great. We're in the middle of another snowy week, and gardening seems so far off, but I did order some seedlings that are hard to find and will be shipped to me in May. That was exciting! Oh unbelievable about the MRI tech. Is that what medical care is coming to? I have noticed a huge change in the care I was used to getting-from not being told of test results to just plain not being taken care of properly. Thinking of you....hoping for good outcome!

I think another year will go by without us planting much of anything.. We are having some concrete poured and working on putting up a fence.. you know 'fun' stuff.. ReplyDeleteI don't like MRIs, I've had a few and the last one I had, I got a bit claustrophobic in there. So I am sorry that yours wasn't done properly causing you to have to go back for another one, seriously wtf? I'm glad to see your sweet potatoes, as I am thinking about doing the same thing and planting some that I bought in the supermarket. Even if I don't get any tubers, you can also eat the leaves. Having recently had two MRIs, I can certainly feel how awful it would be to have another when you know it could have been done right the first time. Especially with a bad IV insertion. I'm so sorry.

So sorry to hear of the dreadful experiences you have had. I hope you get better treatment than you've been getting. Your clay pieces are looking good and I'm looking forward to seeing them painted. ReplyDeleteEvery time I hear about the way certain doctors behave towards their patients, not listening to their needs and recommendations, I appreciate my medical team a bit more. I have 3 MRIs coming up--cervical, thoracic, and lumbar. They were ordered by my primary, but when I told my oncologist that they should have contrast he just made the change. No questions asked. I hope one of these days, you find a healthcare provider (without the "non").
ReplyDeleteI, too, started my seeds much too early. My sunflowers and milkweed are getting ridiculously leggy. I usually start my seeds on the first day of spring, but I jumped the gun this time around. And I think I might have to pay for it. 😅
When I first glanced at the clay pieces, I thought they were bread. Giggles.
The medical world can be so frustrating ~ hoping for the best for you ~ lovely seedlings sprouting ~
