Hi Everyone!
For me I am still working on show items. Elizabeth from Alter Book Lover ask me how many bottles I have made. The count right now ready for show is 50 bottles! Now I am working on fast and easy items. Here is what I got made this week. Even with numb face. LOL
I was going to make these all different but decided the same was better.

5 in Silver. There is no red, I think it is a reflection of my shirt.
|
5 Gold
|
I made labels and packaged them up. warrior witches brooms.
|
I did work on other projects but they are all drying now. I am trying to keep really busy. It takes my mind off things. So I decided to can. I got 10lbs of red potatoes a few weeks ago and and some London broil meat very inexpensively to can
However, last year I bought some different kind of canning jars with lids. They are made in America and were a lot less expensive. They are called PUR. DON'T BUY THEM. I used them on the meat. I got 10 pints and when I opened the caner 5 pints had their lids sitting at the bottom of the caner. I was very disappointed.
The potatoes turned out beautifully. I used Kerr and Ball jars and lids.

16 Pints of goodness.

The uncaned meat is perfectly good and soooo. 5 pints of meat and juice.
|
First thing is a big pot of stew with home canned potatoes and carrots. Lots oF onions, celery, crushed tomatoes and I can't think of what else.
|
Some of the best stew ever.
|
There is a lot of meat in 5 pints. Next I shredded, seasoned and made enchiladas.
|
Ready for the oven
|
You can't believe how good my house smells.

I also made butter this week. However, I am tired and will share this process next week. I hope all of your are well and life is treating you with goodness.

No red on the sword of that warrior-witch broom? It's a reflection of your shirt? I don't believe it for a moment. I know it's the blood of your enemies.
I hope you were able to salvage the meat from those bad canning jars. (Is that the five pints?)
I understand doing things that are fast and easy when a show gets closer.
I hope you have help transporting all the things to your show. (I think I will be carrying all my items to the exhibit by myself. Oh well!)
...I love your witches brooms. Evergreens will mutate into a new form which is called a witches broom in the nursery business.
wow a busy day for you, especially for not feeling well. so sorry about the canning lids I have never had that happen to me-so disappointing for sure-did you use Ball or Kerr lids? I only use those or bulk lids from the amish store are good for me too.
your foods look delicious-hugs Kathy
That is a lot of bottles! The food looks delicious! -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
Everything looks so delicious Nicole!
You are a busy woman! Do you ever stop and rest a while?
How frustrating to lose all that canning. That's not a good thing for certain. And nice new projects. I can't think of what they are called but I know they're used to brush away spirits. Have a great Thursday. hugs-Erika
Thanks for the tip on the canning jars. That had to be enormously frustrating for you. Such a lot of work.
Good morning! I'm here after seeing your comment on Debra's blog. Now to read more in here and get to know you a little.
Menacingly adorable witch’s brooms. I’d buy at least two!
Barbara (even if it doesn’t say so)
You have been creatively busy!
Ack, sad with the pints...
I like the little witch brooms. Your stew looks tasty, perfect for winter. I look forward to your butter-making post.
Your art and craft projects really are taking on a whole new look, and they are wonderful.

These look scrumptious to taste. You have a great rest and rejuvenate
those enchiladas look great!
Those wtches brooms are well done, Nicole. Goodness. I am glad you explained how many bottles you had ready, because I thought I had lost my mind when I read only 15 bottles on Tuesday.
I stopped canning after I gave up my veggie garden, so I am glad you warned us about the Pur lids. You have a LOT of meat to deal with there. Sorry I won't offer to help eat it (grin)!
Your warrior witches brooms are something! I do like them a lot. How annoying about the canning lids. I think I saw those Pur jars somewhere. I usually use Ball or Kerr jars for my jam making and they are good.
It looks like your show will have lots of unique art to buy, Nicole!
I am amazed at you being able to do all you do despite how you are feeling physically ~ Way to go! Love the broom creations ~ Xo
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

Oooh enchiladas!!! Yummers! Your Witch's Brooms are spectacular Sis! I love them!!! I made that mistake too regarding canning equipment. I bought some rings from Amazon, don't know the brand. When it came time to can, they were all warped and it was too late to return that crap! I only buy the brand name now, here in Canada it's Bernardin.
