Hi Everyone!
If you follow by blog you know that a few years ago, BC (before covid) I started gardening. That also brought me to a blog post called Garden Saturday. Every year I have been able to get my garden seedlings started by the end of February and by mid march I have been able to start planting. I container garden for one main reason. We live on sand and I don't mean the good kind. So containers work very well for me. Last year I even got a small greenhouse that Mr. M secured to our deck. Even our angry pacific ocean winds didn't budge it. This year is completely different. Feb. seemed to follow pattern but then, a freeze set in during March and the rain and winds came in like hell fury. Things settled down and I planted some seedlings of squash, cucks, peas and beans. Everything was going well and then 2 weeks of freeze in April. As much as I protected the plants, I lost the cucks, and some beans. Then from the Middle of April until now it is rain and horrid winds. We would have one day of clear weather and then rain again. Mr. M. built me a garden box that is 8x4x2' We had to cover it up until we got another clear day to brace and fill it. That was last Wednesday. We drove over to Sand Ranch to buy soil. They have the best and great prices. They filled the back of the truck and we got it home with no trouble. Mr. M. and I took turns shoveling it all out into the garden box. Then we covered it all up because we have rain and wind from hell from last Thursday until next Tuesday. We already have a short growing period here so I am hoping for some kind of long Indian summer.
It didn't take us long to get the work done.

Weather patterns are changing everywhere and gardeners will need to become ever more creative.
Looking forward to seeing what you plant in that raised bed Nicole. Hope it works out better than the greenhouse.
That's a lot of good looking soil. Nicely done, Nicole. Looks like you will be giving us gardening updates all season, now.
Your weather sounds similar to what mine has been for the past month, also. I hope your garden does well.
I don't have a garden but I really should try to grow a few simple veggies and herbs.
...that looks like beautiful soil.
Now THAT is nice dirt!
Happy gardening you and Rain have so much in common
I get bark mulch and soil that way too. It's nice to have a truck available. And I like bucket garden starts too. It's still too cold here to plant, but that's pretty normal for us. Have fun with your new cool garden box Nicole.
We have a long growing season here, but my space is small so not much room for projects like yours. Exciting! I look forward to seeing how it progresses :)
It's lovely and sunny today and my hubby is in the backyard gardening! Happy spring.
Lots of hard work, hope you soon get good weather! Valerie
Warmest day so far with wind advisories here.
Love the new boxes and that dirt looks wonderful! :)
I have a small terrace garden and I love tending to it! Really relaxes me!
Great job on your backyard gardening! And congrats again to your husband on his garden boxes. The soil you have bought seems very good considering its intense brown colour ... the four main components are organic matter, moisture, oxygen, and bacteria.
Unfortunately, weather patterns' change are disrupting the usual balance of nature also here on the Mediterranean area.
Happy Mother Day, Nicole :-)
Boa tarde. Desejo um feliz domingo com muita saúde e paz, para você e sua família. Bom início de semana.
Wow! You both did an awesome job ~ Weather is cold and windy ~ one day it played real nice ~ Climate change, I guess is wreaking havoc ~ Be well ~ Xo
Wishing you good health, laughter and love,

Your containers look so big! We have some small seedlings we are fostering indoors before planting outside (the birds love to eat them otherwise), but we'll see...
The weather has been mad around these parts too. I usually start my seeds in January/February, and transplant them to permanent containers at the end of March or beginning of April. This year I had to wait until May. Then, the moment I put them out it rained (with gales) for three days. I put bags over the containers, but still some of them downed. We're supposed to have some sun the day after tomorrow. I can't wait to see what survived.
i am sorry that you have to face trouble due to nasty weather dear Nichole .
i can see you have made some very nice arrangements for the plantation ,i hope all the plants grow well and fill you with joy amen !
