T stands for Tens Unit

 Hi Everyone!

I was going to write something about the NYC subway shooting, but what is there to say? Hope they catch the guy soon and my heart goes out to all of the people on the trains.

In my small part of the world, I lifted a bucket of dirt the other day and pulled the muscle down the side of my arm. OMG REALLY? Yesterday I pulled the tens machine out and hooked myself up. Ahhhh relief. Along with heat, and some herbal cream I should be back to normal soon. At least I can type with 2 hands today.

Last week I got this piece done. I have several more I want to do for my show.  We thought would we have the show sometime this month. However, the weather for the month of April is rain, wind, and cold temps. Yesterday we got rain all day, hail, 39° was the high and let's not
forget the continuous wind. So the show will be later down the road.
In the meantime I am making these clay totems. They are so much fun to make and they stand about 6".

Do you use boxed cake mixes? I do. They are easy and there is a lot you can do with them to make them more appealing. I made this a few weeks back for Mr. M.  It's a yellow cake and as I was adding the eggs and other ingredients, I thought of the pudding I have in the pantry. I added a box of lemon pudding, mixed it all up and baked as directed. The cake was so tall and beautiful when I pulled it out of the oven. I left it to cool. OHH NOOO when I came back an hour or so later the cake had dropped. I mean it fell about half. I cut a little corner off to see if tasted OK and it did. I frosted it and hoped for the best. Mr. M. was so happy with the cake. He said the texture was excellent. So it worked it.
This is my drink to get into
To finish my Son and his wife too Evalina for an outing. As you know my kids live in Florida and I live in Oregon.
There are so many fun things to do in Florida

Well that's it for me today. Be sure to stop by Elizabeth's to see what's going on over there.

  3. Hope your arm heals soon. It is a pain in the you know where when you pull a muscle. And you can doctor cake mixes up so easily. But oh no, too bad it fell. Sometimes that means its not quite done and could have used a couple more minutes. But who knows when you doctor a cake mix if that is why or not. Have a super T day, loving your totem, and hope the arm feels better. Hugs-Erika

  5. I've heard mention of tens machines in videos from some of the PT YouTube videos I follow but have never used one. I'm glad it helped.

I do use boxed cake mixes but doctor them up a bit. Your lemon cake looks tasty. I wonder why it fell... Happy T Tuesday!

  6. I love your totem pole. Last summer the Potters Guild here collaborated on quite tall totem poles which were displayed in the local botanical garden. All made from fired clay.

  8. excuse me not knowing but what is a tens machine? I hurt my good hand and arm the other day helping with those concrete blocks-I need to remember my age haha
I never used a boxed cake mix until it was just easier with gluten free mixes as they always turned out so good and with the gluten free ones everything in the mix is all read food no extra stuff.
I really enjoy your art-thanks for sharing with us. we are in for a huge storm tonight with the temps crashing so sounds like possible tornado type stuff Happy T hugs

  9. I'd love to have a good tens machine, but they are so expensive and thankfully neither hubby nor i need one that badly. I loved having one when I'd need PT for my knee or back:). I have a cookbook and the recipes in it all start with a box cake mix. There are some really good recipes in it that I use from time to time.
Love your clay totem- so nice and colorful. Good to see your lovely family. Have a good week, and happy T day!

  10. You can delete this if you want after reading it- just wanted to say thanks for the info on the tens machine. I thought they were much more expensive than that:)

  11. I don't know what a tens machine is either. I've used a box cake mix once but decided I prefer my own so not used since but I'd not thought of adding stuff. Hope your arm is better now.

  13. Sorry to hear about your arm. Sounds like an injury that would happen to me. Glad you were able to get some relief with your machine.
Your totem is lovely, and I really like the irradiant colors of the paint.
I don't cook with cake mixes but I have had some that are delicious and very moist.
    Happy tea day,
    Kate

  14. I'm sorry about your arm and hope that it will be better very soon. OR seems to be very cold this week. - yesterday my friend in Portland sent me pictures of her garden covered under 5 inches of snow. Even we had the heater on today, and this is California! - Lovely art, that's a beautiful clay totem. Yes, I do use box cakes and often put my little twist on it (not always). I'm not much of a baker, so this is really easy for me.

  15. What yucky weather. Your art pieces are fun and awesome. I hope you get to have your show soon. I use a yellow cake mix with lemon pudding, and then poke with toothpicks and pour hot lemon jello & 7 up over it. Then frost with lemon pudding and cool whip. My hubby's favorite. I am not looking at the recipe but telling you from memory. Might not be quite right but gives you the gist of it. Happy T Day

  16. I'm one who has also never heard of a Tens machine. Glad it worked, though. Love your totem. Love the shimmery color.

I haven't baked a cake in probably 20 years. I may buy a mix and cook it just to say I have, though. Thanks for sharing it, along with your milk, for T this Tuesday, dear Nicole.

I would have been here sooner, but I've been stuck with my new tax man most of the day. Nothing like waiting till the last minute to get everything filed.

  18. Hope your arm feels better fast.

Love the art - how fun to be doing a show - I wish I could come!!!! Love the face!

Your cake sounds great and it is always a win when hubby gives the seal of approval.

Your Granddaughter looks lovely and sweet. There is a lot to do in Florida so she is lucky (except that you are not close by).

Happy T-day a bit late and many hugz to you, Nicole (healing ones).

  19. I like the wise expression on the clay goddess face. Cakes will fall if the batter is too wet. It will rise rapidly and sink as it cools. Overbeating can cause too much air in the batter which will also cause the cake to fall. The oven should be pre-heated to temperature before you put the cake in the oven and overfilling your cake pans will cause the cake to collapse. Ask me how I know. 😸 Your granddaughter is adorable and a graffiti artist in the making 😻Happy T Day
