Hi Everyone!
Today is food Wednesday with Kathy at Hummingbird Studio
So let's get to it. Today the best Chicken fried steak. I have never made this before. Remember until recently I was vegetarian and only ate meat that I hunted and harvested myself. With the price of food... I was able to get these packages of meat for C.F.S. at a good price, so I gave it a try.
Mix egg and milk enough for the amount of meat. Have a plate of seasoned flour set aside. Remove the meat from the egg and coat with flour. Dip the meat again in the egg and back into the flour, pressing the flour into the meat. Place on plate, cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours and up to 24. When ready heat a pan with a bit of olive or grape seed oil and a T of butter. 3 to 4 minutes on each side. I served mine with pepper white gravy, whipped potatoes and honey glazed carrots.
Now for yesterdays veggie soup.

Chicken fried steak is popular here, but I always end up choosing something else from a menu and have never made it myself. That veggie soup looks delicious!
Good morning Nicole, I did not know that you hunted for meat. we did that too at our woods home and lived on the meat all year long. Have you canned meat?
Your chicken fried steak looks delicious-I love your food tutorials. I made a veggie soup too last week. Thank you for linking up for Food Wednesdays, and inviting others to join us.
Looks really good Nicole, I linked up to Kathy's too thanks.
...this is something that I've never had.
Looks sinfully delicious!
Oh wow, that chicken fried steak looks yummy! I'm glad you got a good price on meat, it's so dang expensive!
Boa tarde Nicole. Acho que nunca comi algo assim no Brasil. Parabéns pelo seu trabalho e receita.
Delicious! Thank you for the tutorial, that looks easy enough. Your carrots look fantastic, too. I usually make carrots with a balsamic glaze since I am not too crazy about honey. Your veggie soup looks so good.
I've never made chicken fried steak either. I do like it though, but the name has never made any sense to me. This looks very yummy Nicole. Now I want some with that gravy. YUm. hugs-Erika
Lovely food for Wednesday ... or any day of the week :)
All the best Jan
Living in TX we LOVE our chicken fried steak!... I never make it though... we have a fav restaurant.. Yours looks yummy!!!
Before I was a vegetarian, I loved eating CFS. I have never made them, but yours looks great, especially for a first attempt. I like how you took us step by step through the process. Your veggie soup looks good, too. I made some about three weeks ago when it was snowing.
Hmmmm, that sounds very yummy!
