TAD and 29 faces.

 Hello!

It's Thursday and that means TAD with Rain hosted this week by Christine. and day 17 of 29 faces. However, I want to give a big thanks to Elizabeth also known as Grannie Annie over at BY EAGHL. We have been linking each day for 29 faces. To tell the truth she keeps me committed to the challenge. :)
She is drawing the cast of, "Yellowstone" this is a very popular series on the Paramount channel. Elizabeth's style of art is caricatures. Some think this is simply cartoon art. However, it is one of the most difficult type of portrait art. The term is originally Italian 'caricatura', and appeared in Italian art around 1600 in the works of
Annibale Carracci. It is considered a 'fine art' and the history of caricatures is fascinating and you can check it out here
You can also see all 17 days of caricature art BY EAGHL all created with expertise. I also love the way she adds color. Leave a comment and tell her I sent you.
Now because TAD's theme is 'Excitement' and I am writing about caricature art I have a piece NOT created by me. In 2008 about a year before my baby sister passed, I had an art show and teaching at the show in Sonoma, CA. My sister lived in our childhood city of Sacramento. She came to the show and stayed with me and then we went to her home and I stayed a week. We had the best time and "excitement" of seeing her was overwhelming. We made a trip to San Fransisco, (our old stomping grounds) and wh had this caricature drawn for us. The artist did 2 so we could each have one. I always wondered why he put a bun on the top of my head but I love this of my Sister. We were giddy that day and danced on the streets.
For 29 faces.
One thing I am doing with my clay faces.

Have a great day today!

Interesting information about the origin of portrait art! I didn't know it appaered in Italian art four centuries ago.

So sorry about your Sister!
I visited my Baby Brother, too, in Cologne for a week, it was great. Funny how as kids we didn´t click but as adults we do.
Great portrait of the two of you!
Love the beads around your clay face, would be great on the door to the condo (we have a male and a female cow instead).
