I was going over the year Mr. M. and I have had for 2021, and it was not fun and at times extremely difficult. Not sure how 2022 will be different, but I am wishing for better and for all the goodness it will bring for
I lived in AK. for many years as did my family. If anyone has been to Fairbanks or lived there you have been to the town of North Pole. Yes, it is set up for Christmas year round. Here are a few photos.
That's it for today.
Check out what other's did for this theme. I know it's better than this. Bahhh humbug.LOL
It has been snowing off and on for the last 2 days. Yesterday, was pretty amazing for the coast. Most of my adult life I have lived in heavy snow country and anywhere else this wouldn't even count as a snow day, but here on the Oregon coast.... yeah it sucks. LOL
I did have to go out in it yesterday and I was surprised to see how most people were staying home. The streets were pretty bare. Fine by me.
It is below freezing now and in a few days rain. Just a strange winter for the beach.
I made pizza dinner for Christmas
and it was so darn good.
For some reason I have been craving Mango. Yeah, who knows why. It's not like you can even buy a mango in my town. So I found this drink called,
Sparkling ICE. It is a combination of Orange and Mango
and the taste is pretty good.
I have more faces drying. I think because my house is so cold it takes a longer time for the clay to dry.
Today is Movie Monday. Since we are having snow, icy wind, and crazy coastal weather, Mr. M. found some strange and wonderful movies to watch this weekend. Both movies have to do with young boys. In fact the first movie is called,
"The Boy"
Staring one of my all time favorite actors David Morse.
and his son is played by Jared Breeze.
Here is the nice explanation of the movie.
In the summer of 1989, nine-year-old Ted Henley and his father,
John, are the proprietors of the Mt. Vista Motel - a crumbling resort
that is buried in the mountains of the American West. Since Ted's mother
left, John has drifted into despondency. However, the son, Ted, is a messed up crazy little boy that will go to any lengths to get what he wants.
We watched this free on Tubi.
The second movie is, "The Fields" with the great
Cloris Leachman, also Joshua Ormond and Bev Appleton.
This movie is based on true events and I like when that is advertised. Ya know an extra thrill factor.
This movie is about the corn field. Now let me just say that in the movies, when there is a corn field you know things are NOT going to be good. LOL
This corn field holds lots of secrets.
"The Fields" is a 2011 American suspense thriller directed by Tom Mattera and Dave Mazzoni. The film is touted as being a
"semi-autobiographical account" of what happened to Harrison Smith, the
film's writer, as a boy growing up on a grandparents' farm on the
outskirts of Easton, Pennsylvania
In a few hours it is supposed to start snowing, and then.... snow for 2 solid days. I spoke to my SIL about 50 mile inland from me and it is already snowing there. Boo hoo hoo. The main reason is that people here do not know how to drive in snow and we don't have snow equipment to clean the roads.
We will see how it goes.
In the meantime I have been making clay faces and Mr. M. got a sneak photo of me. I am hardly ever in front of a camera. I am NOT photogenic at all.
However, I will share this one with you.
I was standing in front of the wall heater to get warm and leaned over the top of the chair. Then I heard the click of the camera.
Because I am a bone head and can't see very well. ha ha ha.
Last week with TAD I again presented the wrong week. So this week I am doing last week. uuhh got that? LOL
The theme is supposed to be Christmas future and you can see mine here Last week was Christmas present. Or did she mean a present you get at Christmas? Ohh I am on a roll this AM. Hang in there with me, it's early.
So... since we don't celebrate Christmas there is no tree, or other decorations. We are probably having home made pizza for dinner and life goes on as always. I will spend hours on the phone and face time with the kids, and my brothers.
In an earlier post I mentioned that I don't shop during Christmas. That's not entirely true. I am always looking for the best deals on what ever I purchase. Mr. M. calls me cheap, hhhhaaa cheap I am NOT! I just don't like being taken advantage of from stores and companies. I don't purchase anything that is not on sale. With that said I got the best deal on Amazon the other day. I needed metallic paints and found this 24 pack with brushes for $19.99 and of course free shipping.
I'm pretty happy with this purchase.
For all of you celebrating Christmas I do wish you
the happiest day, with laughter echoing through the house, good food with family and friends, memories made in this strange time we live but most of all I wish you love.
