This is not a test

Hi Everyone!

This is not a test, just a question. One that I would really like your answer to. If and when the covid vaccine
reaches the masses will you take the vaccine????
The answer for me is, "no". The reasons are, made too fast, not near enough transparency, and no one knows what the long term side effects will be. The officials, say you will become sick with the vaccine but they don't tell you how sick, or how long it lasts. I heard that they will not give all of the front line workers the vaccine at one time due to the sickness after the injections. Uhh yeah they don't want all the doctors and nurses out at the same time while people are still sick. There are other things I have to say on this subject but will leave it for another time. Now I would like to know the answer to my question. There is no prejudiced here, no backlash on your answer. Please feel free to answer honestly.

I will get the vaccine as both Himself and the Young One are immuno-compromised. I think the fact that 2 of the vaccines, Moderna and Pfizer show a 90% efficacy is un-precedented and such good news. (Flu vaccine efficacy is between 60 -70%. ) Also the fact that the companies refused to politicize the vaccine, that is roll it out before the election, is/was reassuring. There are always side-effect to any vaccine and medication, and some individuals may be more sensitive than others. The illness that they speak of is similar to the side-effects from the flu shot. Himself had no issue. I was "sick" for one day after the flu shot. So much hype about the vaccines drowned out the issues of the side-effects. I did hear about some of the side-effects at the beginning of last month. So I don't think it's an issue of not being transparent. I think the biggest problem with both the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines will be the fact that they both must be stored at ultra-cold temperatures and not many facilities have that kind of storage. I think it will be quite sometime before the vaccine is available to the general public. As more research goes on about Covid-19, I expect refinements to the vaccine will be made and go through the approval process.

...I have excellent doctors whose opinions I trust, if they say that it's safe than I'll take it.

I haven't heard any news reports about sickness following the injection. It's not a decision we have to make right away in Canada though, because we won't be receiving any vaccines until the Spring probably. I'll be watching the news until then, though, for all the latest medical/scientific updates on the vaccine.

I don't know much about the vaccines in other countries.

Good way to look at it, Tom.

I read in the journal science that some people are getting sick, but it only lasts about 24 hours. I will get the vaccine, not that I expect it to let my life go back to normal. My husband is immunosuppressed, and I don't want to be the one getting sick and bringing it home to him. Even if it isn't as effective as they say, it should help.I don't think I'll be able to get a vaccine until spring either, and by then, any problems should have come to light.

I have an immune problem, but I plan to wait long enough to see if there are any long term side effects. I doubt I will get it for at least another year. By that time, we should know the long term effects.

The reason people get sick is because it's actually a mild form of the virus itself. It's actually a sterile, non-reproducing form of the virus. However, it attaches to the covid virus much like the covid virus attaches to our cells.

A few months ago I was dead set against getting it. I watch waaaay too much news, and after listening to a few doctors about this, I changed my mind. By the time we can get it I think problems will be spotted. I am not one to get shots-I've never gotten a flu shot. I don't react well to the shots I do get-like tetanus (SP?), so I was afraid. But to tell the truth, I am more afraid of getting covid than getting the vaccine. I heard the shot will keep you from getting REALLY sick even if you do get the virus-that's good enough for me. There are so many awful side illnesses that can accompany covid-long term fatigue, heart problems, brain fog, loss of taste and smell-I just don't want to live in fear of all of that.

Being in a high-risk group by age (way up there) I’m with Tom. My doctor’s advice will take precedence.

I fully suspect I will have a reaction (heck, I was in bed for almost a week after my second shingles vaccination). sometimes the lesser of two evils is the best choice. I feel that way about Covid. Going forward without the worry of catching it matters a great deal.

Yes. Especially since by the time it's offered to me there'll be _months_ more stats ;)

I'm not sure? We will see what Canada does. I know I won't be one of the first ones getting it. I will wait!! Big Hugs!
