Happy Sunday

Hi Everyone!

Happy Sunday to you. I have had a really good day. Most of my days are good but today just seems to be so easy.  Of course I got up early checked on my garden, then did all of my PC "stuff" for work.
After reading, more than several, blogs about how other gardens are doing I will stop complaining about the cold, very wet area I live in. I wake every morning to heavy fog and cold moisture off the Pacific ocean. It is call a marine layer here. So I have no need to water in the AM. When the sun does come out it is hot and the garden loves that. Since this is my first real garden I have learned a few things and I will plant differently next year.

Early morning drips of water hanging off the squash leaves.

Female squash blossom

A close up. I think these are beautiful.

Cucumber will be ready tomorrow for harvest.

I have given a lot of squash to my friend, we have eaten more than normal people should and this is the first 1lb of 10 that is going into the freezer.

Icky red root disease how creepy.

Found this mess this afternoon

This is the corn that came in some grass seed. We thought we would let it grow. In such a short time it is now taller than Mr. M., he is 6'3" tall. With the red root disease, the Asian beetle that looks like a lady bug, the fly, and all that sandy looking stuff are eggs of some sort.
The corn gets chopped down tomorrow.

Have a very nice Sunday.

My squash is in distress, the blossoms are rotting, and my herbs are dying as I type this. I water twice daily and can't keep any of my potted plants happy. You are SO lucky to have the weather you have. I think that's why your garden is doing so incredibly well. Kudos, dear Nicole.

Great photos of your pumpkin blossoms they are so beautiful too! Pumpkin is healthy and freezing is good for winter
It's a shame about the corn, it has grown so well, but when there are pests on it, it is not worth leaving it there.
I love your garden joy, Elke

Nicole, before you cut down your corn, give it a spritz of the magic garlic/cayenne goo. I’d love to see corn out of your novice garden. Our soil is still too compacted to even think about corn, my seeds need to hold on til next year. It is probably field corn, but hey, front door decor (painted purple or fuchsia?) for your fave holiday.
