Monday Memories

 Hi Everyone!

I have been very busy getting things listed on my website.  I have a new page. This n That, it will carry odds n ends of art supplies at reduced prices. There are just a few things up right now but if your are interested come visit beadwright.com Also good news I was able to drive yesterday!  My sight is still not 100% but I can drive. Yay. Now what does this have to do with memories?  First my Grandmother and Grandfather were artist. My Grandmother very well known and the first woman to own an art gallery, and art school in Bremerton, WA. My Grandfather was a framer and I still have Nan's art in Grandpa's frames. I will have to show those photo's next week. My Grandparents were married for 55 years and when my Grandpa passed my Nan didn't know how to drive. I taught her, when she was 72 years old. When I asked why she never learned before she said, "Your Grandpa never wanted me to learn he loved driving so much" Hmmm  She loved driving and was a great driver. She bought a Cadillac.

This is my Great Grandmother Sadi and Great Grandfather Tom
The smallest girl is my Grandmother and her sister.
Tom was a surveyor for the US Government and
they traveled all over the country. I have some wonderful stories of their travels.

Again the smallest boy is my Grandfather.
He grew to be 6"3" tall. The other boy is his brother.
I love Grandpa's hat.

This is my Nan on her wedding day.
She told me the photographer asked her not to smile.
My Grandfather loved cars.
I love a man in a suit and hat.

It was not uncommon for women of that generation to not learn how to drive. Driving was "the man's job." My Mom never learned how to drive either and regretted it. But by middle age, she was too fearful to learn.

Wonderful news that you are able to drive again. That must be something to celebrate.

I loved learning about your grandparents. They were a lovely couple and I can tell you loved them dearly

My grandparents raised me from birth and my grandmother stopped driving after she was sideswiped and put in the hospital in a coma for over a month. She was afraid to drive after that, even though the wreck wasn't her fault.

Good Eye News!! Your grandparents tale is interesting. I only knew one of my grandparents and really since I was raised by an aunt and uncle the Grandma I knew was not biologically mine, but we loved each other as if she was...because she WAS.
