Eye Update

Hi Everyone!

Yes I have been MIA for a few days. I have been out of town seeing the Neuro Ophthalmologist and other out-of-town business. Soooo, all of the tests are in and they are all excellent. Showing that there is nothing in my brain, eye, or blood work that would cause the problem in my eye. There is nothing in the eye ball that would cause this problem either. The doctor believes that this is an aura that won't go away. Persistent migraine aura without infarction (PMA) It is caused by trauma to the eye or after a migraine. I have had migraines since I was a little kid and most of them on the right side of my head. Over the years I have taken every type of migraine medication on the market. The only thing that ever helped was Relpax that came out in the early 1990s. I did have another field of vision test and I have actually gain a bit of sight back. Hurrraayyyy.... There doctor wanted to put me on a migraine med for awhile but everyone he wanted to put me on I have tried with bad side effects. He offered the newer meds that are injectables that you do at home. I told him I would research those and get back to him. He also said that because the sight is coming back that we can just wait. I asked him, "If this was you what would you do?" He said, "I would wait. But I am not seeing what you are and how much of it can you handle?" I told him I can handle it. So we are giving is a few months and I am praying it will go away. I have done research on this and it happens more than people realize. I am relieved that there is an answer to it, now I can fix it.
Thank you all so very much for your continual well wishes. healing energy, and prayers. That is part of the healing process and it means so very much to me.

Hi Nicole, that is really good news and I send my best wishes that it continues to recede.

I like the way you thought to question your Dr on what course of action he would perhaps take... must remember that!

This sounds QUITE promising. Let's hope you can take the pain, though. I'm sure it will be worth it if you get your eyesight back

Well, it's good to have a firm diagnosis of what the issue is. I hope in time the aura resolves itself and your vision returns. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I have seen the same primary doctor since he graduated from Northwestern in Chicago in 1978. Over the years I have asked him many times what would HE do and he has always guided me to what I found to be the best path. I ask my vet that too. We recently asked Terry's Cardiologist that same question. Unlike Drew Carey on The Price Is Right, they have always answered our question. I think I would not trust a doc that didn't. So glad you have important answers in the tests you took. Terry is getting an MRI to be sure a flash of light he has seen a couple of times are from the migraines and not a tumor. You gotta love a doc that doesn't take chances. BTW, he is a doc with the VA.
xx, Carol

you are the second person i have heard of having vision problems due to migraines, so when people say its just a headache, no its not, migraines can be really horrible to deal with
