AEDM day 5 Shock art

Hi Everyone!

Hurrayy I finished my 3rd piece of my shock art series. There is something quite energizing for me to create in this genera. In my other 2 pieces I received the reactions I was hoping for, we will see how this one goes. Now for a question.  In your opinion would you consider this shock art, political art, or both. The answer is important as I am going to be speaking on this subject next month.
16x16" gallery shelf canvas, acrylic paints, armature paper mache hand, non drug pills, diabetic syringe with the needle removed.

I agree that this is rather shocking and the way the pills and syringe are dealt with, I think it may be political, too. Not sure if you are in the states, but if you are, this is one of the things that has been in the news lately. The oxy scandal has made so much news, I'm not sure why more political candidates aren't discussing the drug problem in their stump speeches. That bony hand is out of this world. Most impressive.
