I am home and it's Paint Party Friday

Hi Everyone!
I have been home a week or so from my trip to VA. I had the best time with my daughter and her husband. We spent two days visiting DC. It was fabulous! Seeing the White House for the first time is quite humbling. What I really loved is that most everything there was free. The zoo, museums, art galleries and much more. Eating out was not that expensive either. DC is exciting with lots of energy. VA is a busy place too. I did like that EVERYTHING is so convenient. I could have stayed longer but will definitely go back before this tour of duty is over for them.  Not much art work done. I am a private artist. Meaning I don't like people watching me create. So while in the SF airport I began to draw. I was sitting off by myself and before I knew it 3 people were watching me and asking me questions. Uuhhh did I invite you into my space? They were nice but it is like interrupting someone that is reading a book. LOL  So to say the least this is not my
best but it is what I have this week.
Big thanks to Eva and Kristen for hosting Paint Party Friday

This is a sculpted leather woman in progress. I will get her finished this week. She is a birthday gift for my neighbor.

We were so fortunate to go to the Renwick art gallery in DC. The entire gallery featured artists from and about Burning Man. We were in awe of the art.
It was quite dark so photos are not as good as they could be.
This was overhead as we walked up the stairs
As you walk in she greeted you. She is all wire with an amazing steal armature.

Last but not least, a person that is into the macabre as I am could not pass up seeing the steps from the movie "The Exorcist" Ya know the steps that Father Karras fell down.
That's it for now. I will post more photos later on.

Glad you're back, and that your trip was so much fun. You did a good sketch, despite the onlookers ;-) I understand completely what you mean, I feel so self-conscious when people are watching me draw or paint, so I avoid those situations at all costs. That looks like an interesting gallery. I'd love to have a walk around there. Happy weekend!

Please thank your kids for their service to our Country! I hope you post your leather sculpture next week. She looks gorgeous already. Happy PPF and have a wonderful week! Hugz, Rasz

I'm glad you made it home safe and sound. You had a great visit judging by the wonderful art you saw. Those steps are steep! Did you dare climb them...I would have HAD to. Great sketch. The leather sculpture is to DIE for!!

DC is pretty cool. I used to have family living there, so I've been a few times. I loved all the free entertainment, and the food was so good, too. Nice to have you back, tho. :) So glad you had a great time.

Oooh, it's too bad you got bugged at the airport, but I'm sure they meant well. And maybe they were bored stuck in the airport. Your sculptured lady looks really cool and I love that Burning Man art. I went once! 1996 omg.

I havent actually seen The Exorcist lol and I love horror :)

I either just ignore people when drawing outside, if they get pushy or rude after I polity say I am busy, I get rude back :p

That sculpture looks very intriguing! I would love to sketch and draw outside more, but the people are also a problem for me. Even if they're nice, it still feels uncomfortable. Sounds like you had a great time, that museum looks fascitating!
