Hi Everyone!
First I need to apologize for not getting to all of you this last week. Lots of medical stuff going on out of town. I always leave a comment for everyone and I just couldn't get it done this week. A big thanks to Eva and Kristen for hosting
Paint Party Friday. I have two drawings this week. Like I said lots of out of town traveling.
Thank you to everyone who comments on my blog. I appreciate it so very much.
Now for art.
This was a difficult study. Hiding the forefingers and thumbs and trying to make this look realist. It is all a lesson.

I bought new paper last week and I DO NOT LIKE IT!
It is Strathmore
Have a great weekend everyone!

you are very brave with your drawings Nicole! those fingers in front of the eyes, and the short curly hair on the other one. Well done! Hope your next week will be less stressed ♥
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous sketches. Her fingers are wonderful and love the highlights in her hair. The second sketch really draws me in, she is so deeply intriguing to me, beautifully done. I love that feeling when you find the right paper and drawing upon it feels sublime...and yes when it is not the right fit, it is no fun. Hope you find your kind of paper! enjoy
ReplyDeletehappy PPF

ReplyDeletenever need to apologize for not commenting or visiting blogs, life gets in the way of blogland and people do understand :)
Good for you! Hands are so difficult and these are lovely and so is her hair. Nice portraits, inspite of the paper! Happy PPF

Big Hugs!
Lovely drawings. You got the details just right. Hope the medical stuff is not serious.
ReplyDeleteYour finger study was not an easy one I think. I tried to put my fingers like that and it was hard to do :) Sorry that youe health gets in the way of art. Still your portraits are super :)
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely, I think it's great that you did such a challenging pose! I like to try new materials too on occasion. Sometimes it works out, sometimes less so, but I think it's worth the attempt for when it very much works out. Sorry the new paper didn't work so well for you.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how important paper is! Some papers are difficult to draw if the surface is not smooth enough or it's difficult move a pencil on it...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful faces again.
Have a good week!
I love the detail (ear, eyes, nose, mouth) of the face. . .so difficult to do. Ouch I know your paper disappointment. Blessings, Janet
ReplyDeleteBoth are beautiful portraits! You captured the muscles in that first pose so well and great presence and expression in the second - happy to visit again and see more of your art!
ReplyDeleteWonderful scetches! And what a challenge to paint on unusual paper ;) ♥ Conny http://piaromsartjournaling.blogspot.de
