Hi Everyone!
Wow another week gone. So much going on in my life, (and thank the gods most of it good) that when PPF comes along I am scrambling to get something made up to show. I need to take some time for quiet, easy going art. LOL We took a drive to Bandon, OR. yesterday. It is one of our favorite towns here on the Oregon coast. People are so friendly, the art shops are pretty amazing and we just have a nice time. We do it at this time of the year because during summer the tourist make it impossible to enjoy the town. Haaa even my own town. Then for what ever reason I have been sleeping in. I am normally up by 5AM 4:30 is better for me. I didn't get up until 8AM today. OMG!!!! I haven't done that since....... well I don't think I have ever slept in that late. It makes me feel like 1/2 my day is gone. I guess I needed the sleep. So a big thanks to Eva and Kristen for hosting
Paint Party Friday. I am anxious to see what all of you have created this week.
I did get this drawn early in the week.
This is something I have wanted to try for some time. I did learn that lighter colors are better than the darker for detail.
I used a canvas that has been repainted on many times. That did lead to some nice texture.

Beautiful artwork. I love all the texture in your canvas piece. I'm an early riser, too. I find that getting up late really messes up my routine and it's my creativity that suffers as a result.
ReplyDeleteYour portrait is gorgeous! I also love how you have used light in your paintings. The texture on the second one is wonderful. Happy PPF
ReplyDeletebeautiful portrait Nicole. I have slept in twice already and I bet many others have too. I'm thinking it has to do with the changing of the season and the sun setting earlier and rising later.
ReplyDeleteAnd it probably is also as you said that maybe one just needs the extra rest sometimes. Happy PPF and have another great week ahead!
I live in a "tourist town" too so I totally understand! And wow, you sure do get up EARLY! lol
ReplyDeleteLovely pieces Nicole, you sound happy!
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous colors on your canvases, Nicole. And the drawing is beautiful. I love the pensive look on her face. The trip to Bandon sounds like a fun day. I'm the opposite from you. I sleep late and stay up late. There were times in my life when I had to catch a 6:30 bus for work. Those were days I never saw sunlight because it was also dark when I left work to go home.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful drawing and such an interesting painting, too!
ReplyDeleteMust be something in the air. I slept in late today, also. Not in a big hurry to get this day started, I guess. :) Love your sketch..she looks like someone I used to know.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous art, I love the your beautiful sketch, her face serene, her eyes potent and her energy is enchanting, she has a strong spirit! and love the colors of your painting, vibrant and magical!
ReplyDeletehappy PPF

What a beautiful drawing and painting. I love the textures in the painting.
ReplyDelete5AM !!? omg, I don't think I would survive .... I'm an evening-person, even a night-person and I hate getting out of bed early. You must be going to sleep pretty early then? Your drawing is very pretty, and I love your paintings. All that texture and the bright colours against the black. Very special!
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny. To answer your question about going to bed early? No I actually stay up late like 11PM. I sleep really well and then "BANG" I wake up ready to go. Weird huh? LOL
DeleteLovely art today.
ReplyDeleteI'm not early bed goer;)
Happy weekend xx
Your drawing looks almost like a photograph. Love the hair .. . . Love the colors in the painting. .Lovely couple/family. Blessings, Janet. Thank you for the visit.

Love your projects, Nicole. How clever to have the underpainting peek through for the next painting!
ReplyDeleteLovely portrait Nicole! Love the texture in your painting...
ReplyDeleteI rise early only when it's needed, I used to when I was in Dubai- 5 am was my time. Now it's 6:30. But I can stay up late...it's calming to paint/draw when the whole world is asleep. That said most of my major work happens during the day when the energy levels are higher! :)
The portrait is shaded very nice. How did you get the colors in the painting? I love it!
ReplyDeleteGood for you sleeping in! Both these art pieces are amazing Nicole!! Wow!!! Love the face and I love the texture!
ReplyDeleteI forgot if I said big hugs? If I didn't Big Hugs!! And, if I did, well you got two Big Hugs! LOL!
