PAINT PARTY FRIDAY MARCH 3

Hi Everyone!

I am happy that today is Paint Party Friday. I think I have done some good work this week and sharing it with all of you just makes my day. I am so looking forward to seeing what all the artists have created this week, so let's get going. A huge thanks to Eva and Kristen for hosting PPF.

This week I got some new drawing paper. It is Strathmore 70lb. This is heavier than I was using previously. This paper takes the graphite so much so that I have had to learn to lighten up on the pencils. Another lesson in drawing. So here are my pieces for the week this first also makes my count for my Art Everyday 62 for 62 days.

I just thought some laughter was needed
This is 61 for 61

This is a 5 minute draw.

This was a quick draw too. I just couldn't get the fingers right and I didn't have time to mess with it.

This girl had a really thick neck. When I tried to slim it down it just didn't look right. So here she is. LOL

I just love these brothers

This woman is so beautiful in the photograph
I had to try and draw her.

So that is the finished art for this week. Now remember I told you I had a new material that I used to make this guy.

This is by no means my recipe in fact I found it on line from Joni Good. It is paper mache paste made with toilet paper. Now some of you may know of this and already use it. For me I have found my new best sculpting friend. It is used just like a soft clay, it hardens like ceramic but you don't have to fire it. For all the ingredients and a video go here. Scroll down to the second video. You will want to see this. Let me know what you think.
 Have a great weekend everyone!

How gorgeous to see those sweet faces laughing so freely - you've captured them brilliantly Nicole!
Your sketches/two quick draws are so great. I'm always in awe of your shading. I know I said it previously, but the 2nd 5 min face is my absolute favourite :D)
How cool is that paper mache guy!! Oh, it sounds such a lot of fun to do as well, thanks for the link - I shall enjoy watching it.
Cheers and Happy PPF!

Fantastic portraits Nicole!! Love the three boys especially. And that is a very cool looking sculpture too! I have done that tp recipe years ago in an art class but haven't tried it since. Happy PPF!

I haven't worked with Paper Mache in years ... you are tempting me. I may have to give it a try when I have a free moment. All of your drawings are great and the laughter, I agree, is badly needed. Love watching your talent bloom.

Nicole, I try so hard not to be envious. I know we each have different talents. But your hand at drawing is so awesome. Each face you do has such a definite expression. Really beautiful work. Thanks for showing the link for the sculpture video. Even though I don't do sculpture, it was fascinating.

Paper mache is great, little messy sometimes, but a good option if a person doesnt have a kiln to use :)

its a very colourful little thing you have made :)

62 pieces in 62 days!! Wow Nicole, you are amazing! I admire you for drawing laughing people. The second one is the best I think! I also love your PM-piece. I used to work with PM and I really enjoyed it. I read about using toilet paper for the paste, but I never tried it out. It looks wonderful, I love how you painted it and how you did the hair/hat. Keep going!

Your diverse portraiture skills never cease to amaze me. The two of the women reclining on their hands are my favorites, as well as that colorful toilet paper clay bust. Blessings!

Yay!! Great job on your daily drawing!! I especially love your second laughing face! My favorite drawing paper for graphite is Strathmore vellum finish bristol. I love it. When doing portrait or commission work, it is all I use. Have a great week and keep up the fabulous work :)

Nicole - these are lovely faces. And especially love your sculpture. I so enjoy creating with papier mache- haven't done it in a while tho. I may just have to!

Wow, Nicole!!! You were so productive this week. Your discovery about the type of paper you use while drawing is helpful. I never noticed that some papers take up more or less graphite. Love the paper mache sculpture! Have a lovely week.

gorgeous drawings as usual.
We used to do papier mache when I was a kid. But at that time we used newspaper paper. It was always availible. We used to do heads to put on our fingers and played tales with them. Home made theater :)

Oh my...these are really good. All of these.
It's great you can do art every day - I can't. I tried but I have too much this and that I need/I want to do that I haven't learned to steal even a moment to draw 'anything' every day.
hm...I'll try today. :)

Have a lovely week and Happy PPF! :)
