PAINT PARTY FRIDAY LAST ONE OF AUGUST

Hi Everyone!

I hope the week has found you all happy and doing well. I am doing much better right now and being positive that it will stay this way for awhile.  On top of feeling better I had 6 art pieces accepted into an art gallery for their 25th anniversary. I am hoping to get a few more pieces in so I will give you an up date and some photos when everything is set.
I didn't have much time in the studio this week so I thought I would show you a few pieces that I painted over. Even if I don't like a painting I still take a photo of it. So laugh if you must, cry if you can't help yourself, just remember it takes a lot of learning strokes to get to where you want to be.
Sooo swallow, sigh, eeekk here they are.....

The colors on this one I loved. In fact they were even brighter than the photo shows. I don't know why I didn't like this it just felt wrong to me.

Speaking of feeling wrong! After I got going on this and new I would paint over it. I just went crazy. Nothing like a red and orange/yellow sky and wild fuchsia weird trees. LOL

Now this one I did like. I took the photo half way done but after adding longer moss and a few other details,  I just felt like it wasn't enough or something was off with it. Plus it was very dark.

So there are the three piece I did away with.

I am linking up with the beautiful ladies who so graciously host Paint Party Friday.
Thank you Eva and Kristin.
Please take time to visit the artists who put themselves out to show what they have created. You just might be amazed at what you see.

Nicole, hi. Glad you are doing better and I hope it stays that way for you. Being in pain is no party as I'm in that category too. Forget about the pain for now, these are just awesome. I especially love the last one. It's like a scene from a jungle movie or some prehistoric place. You are very talented amiga and congrats on having some of your work in a gallery. YAY!!:) Happy PPF to you and always remember that your strokes are outstanding. Have a great day tomorrow and happy weekend to you.

'Learning' - I know what you mean! I just started to paint again and sometimes it's sooooo hard but mostly fun!
I really like your way to use colors. I like all of these!

So happy that you're feeling better, Nicole. It's exhausting to be sick, and in pain. I hope the flareup is over, GONE forever. Goodbye!

I've been purging my artwork lately, too. Some artists hold onto every painting they ever do for sentimental reasons. Not me! I don't hesitate to paint over something if I'm not fond of it. I go through spells where I'm not happy with any of my work, and when I get like this, it's got to go. It's good to be feisty. :)

Hi Nicole glad you're feeling much better and congratulations on having 6 pieces accepted to the exhibition-that's great! I'm in the prices of painting over some pictures as well right now-not so much that I didn't like them but because I've started using a sponge for texture on my landscapes I want them all to be the same so am redoing them using a sponge and hopefully not running them in the process. I think it's good to do over work that we aren't completely happy with. I loved the sky in that first piece you did-amazing colours.

Really love your wonderful use of colours! And that last one looks great, like some mysterious place from a fairytale....

How difficult it is to see our own work sometimes. I happen to like these, especially the first with the superbly painted rock and the last which looks mysterious.
Glad you are feeling better and have had six artworks accepted, that's terrific.

Hi Nicole, I am so glad that you are feeling better. Fingers crossed that this will last a very long time for you. Congratulations on having your paintings selected for the gallery. Your work is always beautiful. I would love to be able to see all of it in person. I like all of the pieces above. I am so glad you shared them with us. A few weeks ago you commented that you would light a candle for my husband. Thank you so much for this. I felt very comforted when I read your message. So far no side effects from the new medicine. Hopefully, it stays that way. Have a wonderful week!

These are gorgeous Nicole. Even if you don't like the second one, I love the bright colors. Its like there's a fire someplace inside of you that is getting out. Saying the heck with everything, you are just burning it out. OK, so maybe I am getting carried away. Glad your having a better week with your health too.

I sure don't know why you didn't like the top one because the colors are gorgeous, and the design is great. The other paintings are enjoyable to view too. Congratulations for being accepted for the show.

Congrats on being accepted for the art gallery. Glad you feel better, that's difficult to handle. I do love the purple (3rd) painting. It looks like a secret cave. . . all kinds of stories well up in me when I look at it. Blessings, Janet PPF

I like all three of these! I always either photograph or scan everything I create. It helps me see my errors and to learn better ways of doing things. I've painted over so many of my paintings but it's a good feeling to know that underneath that painting I love, is something not quite right that I fixed.

I'm so glad you're feeling better. Congrats on having so many pieces accepted into an art gallery! How exciting! I love the third one especially. They are very dynamic. I very rarely paint over my pieces (once in a while, but very rarely). I'd love to do some Halloween art, but we'll see, I'm very slow...

Congratulations on your paintings being accepted. I have to say I am disappointed that you decided to paint over these, especially the first one. I find it captivating. I like the other-worldly feel of all three paintings and I'm very glad you took photos of them. You could very well sell the prints because they are so beautiful and unique.
Thanks for commenting on my blog.
Hugs,
Teresa

You might be your own worst critic. I love the colors in these paintings, Nicole. But I do understand about painting over previous work that does not work for you any longer. PS email me your address and I will send you some eco dyed paper. i teaching my printing group how to do this today. SOOO much fun!! I am a woman obsessed.
