PAINT PARTY FRIDAY JUNE 20

Hi Everyone!

Happy PPF and a big thanks to Eva and Kristin for being our hostesses. I am excited to see who has created what this week. I have actually been busy in my studio since I have been home. So here are a few of the goodies. Hope you enjoy the show.
Be sure to click on the link to see all of the talented artists.

A bit of abstract. Still trying to find my way with this. There are so many avenues to explore. Again this is so difficult for me.  I just want everything to be even LOL This is a good way to learn to let go.

20x16 gallery canvas with acrylics

As most of you know I have not painted since I was a little kid. Then it was still life in my Nan's studio. So exploring painting some 50 years later is pretty amazing. I find that color drives me more that subject matter and as with my beading "I just do it" there is no pattern or drawing, just the paints. This piece was so much fun for me.
BTW this is a used canvas so you will see lines under the paint. :)

It began like this, lots of color.
on a 20x16 gallery canvas with acrylics

I decided to try my hand at rocks.
OK OK stop laughing it is my first time at rocks.
Keep scrolling

Filled in the rocks and then added a few rolling hills.
My camera doesn't show all the subtle colors and light.
Add a few finishing touches to the color and then added some bird silhouettes
For my first landscape I am OK with it.

Oh this is so awesome Nicole. I love your landscape. It's almost as if one can stand on the rocks and look up at the sky as if waiting for the others to come down and visit.(aliens) I love it! Your abstract is very well done as well. I love all your bright colors. Pretty good Nicole! Have a great weekend.

I really like this landscape. I actually thought it looked great (& finished) in the first photo but then when you see it progress it gets better and better. There is a lovely sense if perspective in the finished piece. Especially impressive if this is your first go at landscape work!

Good for you....I started very late after living a creative crafty life of sewing, crocheting, baking...you name it painting walls furniture...it oozes out until you finally take a brush to a canvas! Beautiful work...the rocks turned out so well...good job!

Your colors are great. I really like the abstract. For me abstract painting is harder than sketching. Smiled at your rocks. I happen to be in the thinking stage about a sketch that involves rocks so I will take some hints from yours.

Thanks for your visit.

I have never tried abstract painting--after years of making flowers, I have just as much trouble or more than you in not being symmetrical, even. I just don't do random well!!! I would not even know where to start.

I am certainly more comfortable painting landscapes--and I really like yours! As for the rocks....we are always our worst critic. I think they are surreal.

Your landscape is beautiful and full of energy. I especially love how you've added the birds and how the light reflects in them. Wonderful painting.

Hi Nicole, well, I'd say you nailed the landscape. I love that some of the birds reflect the sunset colors. You are a wonderful role model forging ahead, trying something new, sharing your process. Thanks!

You have an amazing sense of color. I love the direction your art is going in. Sometimes when looking at a beautiful landscape around me outdoors, I squint to blur the colors together. Your work brings all that beauty forward.

Your first landscape?! My goodness, but you have found your niche, Nicole! This is marvelous! The colors, the depth, the whole evocative nature of it is just fantastic! BRAVO !!!

It's a wonderful sunset scene, Nicole. I love the colors and depth that you created. The birds especially add the sense of space and the feeling that the day is slowly giving way to night.

Your first landscape? Wow!! It's awesomely beautiful.

I love the colors in your landscape - you made me laugh about the abstract piece. We all learned to color in the lines and everything had to be "even". I think little girls were more bound by those rules than little boys. I like your abstract piece and love that there are lines from an older painting.

wonderful wonderful colors and detail. I love that you are drawn to color and you go with it. I too started back into art after 50 yrs. My mom always convinced me I was horrible and my brother was the real artist and then I quit. Now am trying to gain some confidence to learn as much as I can
