I am truly honored to know so many incredible artists from all aspects of art. Beading, of course is and has been my passion for over 47 years and to see how this industry has grown is pretty amazing.
Beads are incorporated into and onto almost everything these days. Barbara Raymond-LaPrease is one of those artists that combined her love of wood working and beading to create these truly one of a kind beaded boxes. Barbara wrote this about how she got started in the wood/bead art.
I built the cherry box to reflect the shape of my project. My main hobby is scrollsawing but during surgical recovery (breast cancer mastectomy and then reconstruction), I needed a hobby that did not include going down into the basement, etc. Hence, beading. This project is the 3rd time I have combined my woodworking hobby with beading. The first was a rose I cut and shaped out of red heart wood and then beaded into a necklace. The second was a bead that I created to hang in the center of a 3 dimensional ornament.
Barbara uses Cherry wood for her boxes.
This box is truly a work of art.
From the depths of pain and illness Barbara allowed her beauty to rise up and create.
Thank you Barbara for sharing with us.
I don't have any links for Barbara but if you leave a comment I will make sure Barbara gets them.
Have a happy Tuesday
