LEATHER ART MARK EVEANS

Hi Everyone!
One day of sunshine, that was Saturday, Sunday it rained and we were back to Florence, OR. weather. I know there are places that need the rain, and the wet, and the cold, wish I could send them the weather here.

On a better note, most of you know that I create art with leather. When I was young I was taught and loved skinning and tanning my own hides. I was taught the old way of Native tanning, (brain tan) There is nothing more supple than Native tanned hides to make clothing, moccasins, and of course to bead on. I have always been attached to working with raw hide. Making drums, wall hangings, and smaller items such as awl cases, knife sheaths and even raw hide jewelry. The emotions of working with leather run deep and if you can "feel" the spirit your art will be amazing. One of my hero's in leather art is Mark Evans and when you see what he can do with leather and just a few knives you will be in awe as well.
Here are just a few of his incredible art pieces. This link will take you to Mark's website. Be sure to click on the process link to watch Mark in action.
Just a few photos of Mark Evans
