Hi Everyone!
Today is another day of intense art and all that it entails. :) I was planning on revamping my Beadwright Etsty store and my website, however, that will have to wait for another day.
If you have been with me awhile you know that I have been beading gourds since the mid 1990s and in 2005 wrote an instructional book on beading gourds. Gourds and art is not a new theme at all and there is a good reason for that. Gourds make an incredible canvas, You can create almost any type of art in any medium on a gourd. Here is my latest piece. Cut, cleaned, shaped, texture painted, beaded and embellished.
Enjoy
Gourd Queen has a bit of texture on her face as well.
I love it when the beads know to lay perfectly on the gourd.
It is so important when working with gourds to clean and scrape the inside as well as cleaning the outside.
The natural cracks and imprints of the gourd creates it's own art.
and here is my gourd book

NICE! I'm going to have to try my hand at using a gourd as I've gotten several for gifts. Thanks for reminding folks of cleaning those insides...nasty nasty. You've got my mind racing.
