Living with lupus sucks!

For those of you who don't know, I share my body with lupus. I have been doing pretty well until a few days ago. You know after the construction crew blew up the shop vac in my house. The stress, in combination of all the toxic dirt that bombarded my house has set me into a bad flare. Stress is VERY BAD for any one who lives with an auto immune dis-ease. So what is an auto immune dis-ease? They come in different names and symptoms but it all comes down to, we all have an immune system the protects us from infections and di-ease. However, if you have an auto immune dis-ease then your system can't tell the good from the bad and attacks itself. The diagnosis can take years because the symptoms are so many and can mask other problems. Plus each person with the same dis-ease has different symptoms and ailments. Here are some of the symptoms for lupus. Swelling and damage to the joints, skin, kidneys, heart, lungs, blood vessels, and brain “butterfly” rash across the nose and cheeks, rashes on other parts of the body,
painful and swollen joints, muscle pain, sensitivity to the sun. There are two types of lupus, Discoid, which effects the skin. Then there is Systemic that can effect any internal organ. Often times more than one. For me, I have both. I have to take precautions for my skin especially in the sun and then my brain, spine, central nervous system and my kidneys are affected. So there are times I can't walk or talk or even think. Right now I am going into one of those types of flares. The kind that puts me in bed for awhile. So if you don't hear from me in the next few weeks that is why. I am healing myself through strong herbs, and holistic medicine, lots of love from family and friends, jokes and laughter and the knowledge that when this flare is over I will have all of you to greet me.
Living with lupus really does suck!!!! LOL Keep on smiling and taking it one day at a time.
Talk to all of you very soon.

Oh, Nicole, I'm so sorry to read this. I have been in and out of an SLE diagnosis for over 25 years now, and have been "disablingly" ill with something for the last 15. I'm fortunate in that most of my problems seem to come from the fibromyalgia and what SLE (if any) I have hasn't attacked anything major. Sending you cool, calm, healing thoughts!

I am so sorry you have to struggle with Lupus. My grandmother struggles with it every day and I myself struggle with Fibromyalgia. Although I also have many of the symptoms of Lupus, my blood tests have consistently come back negative, thank goodness (fibromyalgia is enough, lol). I hope you get over your flare quickly and get back to making your beautiful beadwork! :)

I'm so sorry to hear that. Having a shop vac blow up in your house would be stressful enough without having to think of the affect it is having on your health. I do hope you get to feeling better very soon.
