Color for 2009

Every year a new color is chosen for the design industry. Carl Stadt is the authority and sets the standards through Pantone paints and X Rite. http://www.pantone.com/. http://www.xrite.com/. For 2009 Pantone Mimosa yellow was his choice. OK so yellow is NOT my favorite color. Carl's reason behind it that this color is warm with nurturing qualities and that is what is needed in these difficult economic times. For my hard economic times the color yellow will not do a thing for me. OK OK, so I don't like yellow. My reason... well with my Italian complexion I can not ware yellow, washes me right out. I dislike yellow in my house especially my kitchen and well unless it is in a flower it is a difficult color to work with. I think there should be an alternative color of the year. Mine would be a light Aqua. Silky, watery, flowing, Aqua. Now to me that is soothing. So let me know if you Mimosa yellow is a color you like or would work with in your designs and if not what would your alternative color be. I'm with you on Aqua being the alt color of the year! I dislike yellow too. It makes me look like death warmed over.

I love yellows. I may not wear it, but I love having it around me. My kitchen is a pale shade of yellow with lots of white. Makes the Dakota winters less dreary!

I couldn't agree with you more. My complexion doesn't do well with yellow either and I don't wear it. I look jaundiced. On some people, it looks marvelous.

I'll go with your aqua. It looks great on everyone.

Mmmm, not a big fan of yellow either..gold yes, but not this yellow. Love your suggestion of calm aquas and watery colors, or how about a pretty shade of red. I love red, not to wear so much, but love it in home decor accessories!

I have to agree with you Nicole and your color choice is my favorite too, exactly the way you described it. There's no accounting for taste though and we'll see if this yellow actually takes off.
