Friday Face Off

 Hi Everyone!

Today is Friday Face Off and I am linking up with Gene and Barbara

I literally just finished this piece.
Of course the face is clay, painted and sealed.
I painted a wooden Hamsa hand, then arranged some fabric and glued it on. The face goes on next. Then I did Huichol beading.
There is a hole to hang it on the wall.

Hope you enjoyed Friday Face Off.

Have a great day!

TAD with Rain

 Hi Everyone!

As much as I hate getting old, I must say I had a wonderful birthday. Hundreds of messages, texts, emails and just a lot of love sent my way. Mr. M. also has been building me an elevated garden box. It's 4x8'. We got it painted and put together yesterday. Added some drain holes today. Tomorrow we will, hopefully, roll it up onto some pallets. This way I don't have to hurt my back gardening. Wish I knew some young guys to come help with getting it in place. I didn't take any work in progress photos but when it's up I will show you the end results.

Now for TAD, to all of my artist readers who have never joined TAD because of the themes, here is great news, you can now enter any kind of art you like, or you can still follow the theme. This is a great way to show your art, meet new blogging friends and just have a good art time. Come join us every Thursday. TAD Thursday Art Date.

Rain's theme this week is  Leaves and Branches. Here are a few pieces of my art for the branches.

As you know our weather has just been the worst for my garden. I lost several plants to a (not normal freeze) and my Grey Squash is just not doing well. A remedy I learned my first year of gardening is 1 C of milk, 4 C of water and 3T of Molasses. Mix, then water sick plants with it. This stuff works like magik. Oh just 1 cup per plant.

Here are the leaves part of the theme

The cold turned the leaves yellow and curled.

In a few days I will see if the magik took.

This was our dinner the other night. I had some left over sauce that I added some Italian Sweet Sausage to. Then made a cheese sauce and mixed it all up. Put some grated cheese on top and baked until the cheese was melted.

Add a salad and you have dinner.
Come join in with TAD

Have a great day today.

Food Wednesday and my Birthday

 Greetings!

Well today I am 70. Yeah I hate it.  Mr. M. got me something I have wanted for a long time. An emulsion blender. It was on sale and it's a nutribullet so I can't go wrong with that.

Mr. M. also made me a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting from scratch. He followed the recipe from the dark cocoa box. Seriously, he did such a good job, and he cleaned up as he went.

It's Food Wednesday with Cathy and I have to show you what I made with the blender.
Some of you know I have been playing around with Aquafaba and what can actually be made with it. Aquafaba is the juice from chick peas that takes the place of eggs. It whips up just like meringue, and as I am learning it can be substituted anywhere you need eggs. So why not mayo? I have made mayo in the past, like decades ago but not like this.

You will need, 1/4 C Aquafaba, 2 t sugar, 1/4 t salt, 2t vinegar, 3/4 C vegetable oil, a tiny pinch of turmeric, a jar or container to mix in. Add all ingredients except oil into container and blend until thickened. Slowly drizzle the oil while blending. When all of the oil is in keep blending until thick. It will get even thicker as it sets in the fridge.  Now, for me this recipe is too sweet and tastes more like a salad dressing, (which I don't use) or Miracle Whip (which I really don't use) Because of the sweetness I am going to use this to make cookies. I will show you next week. When I make this again I will leave out the sugar. I will say that it is easy, fun and takes no time at all.

I hope you give this a try.
Have a nice day

T Stands for A Bit of Everything

 Hi Everyone!

It's Tuesday and that means we are all meeting up with Bluebeard and Elizabeth for the T-Party.  Today I am a bit all over the map. I have been battling some sever pain in my hips and low back. I finally got into the hip doctor, she reports that for my age my hips look great. Ya know, on the ex-ray. Then she did a physical exam of my hips and it turns out I have bursitis on both hips. REALLY???? She said the injection is very painful and wanted me to go home put heat for 10 minutes then massage the area to the point of hurting. I have a 6 prong Shiatsu massager.

that will do the trick. After the first treatment I felt better. The next day though I was in so much pain I wanted to go to the ER. Today I am fine. We will see what tomorrow brings. Sooo I said all of that to say nothing feels organized or together. Here are some random photos.

The first 4 photos is the view on HWY 126 leaving Florence going east.

 This is the Siuslaw River.

After 14 miles we come to the small town of Mapleton.

Back home potatoes are pushing through the dirt.

This pot of potatoes is going for it.

Beans that I have in the little green house.

A nice start on this salad mix.

And here is a smoothie made with 3 kinds of frozen berries, beetroot powder, and ground flax and chia. I can't tell you how good this is. I don't like milk products in my smoothies so I add a bit of cold sparkling water.

Hope all of you have a very nice day.
