MY SON IN S KOREA

Hi Everyone!

If you follow me at all you know that I have kids and grandkids in two branches of the US Military. My Son-In-Law, I really consider him my son, is a SSgts in the US Marines. He is now stationed in S Korea. Finally he found some internet and today sent me this photo. I might be a little bias but he is so handsome. LOL My daughter, April,  is so lucky to have a husband as wonderful as Dax.

IT'S A STORMIN!!!!

Hi Everyone!

OK the first big storm of the fall/winter season is on us and on us hard.  We are in a high wind warning. By Sunday between 70 to 80 mph wind gusts and let us not forget the 10 inches of rain.  Ohhhh it is so much fun living on the beach in Oregon. LOL
Our new house has us toasty warm. If the power does go out we have a genie so we won't be in the dark. LOL
I made food  yesterday, so we are set for the weekend to just sit back and watch the weather.
Here are some photos of what the weather is like here in the Pacific Northwest.
Hope your weekend is a good one

GIFT FOR MY NEW HOME

Hi Everyone!

My friend Charmaine came over the other day to give me a gift for my new home. You may remember that Charmaine was the 2009 winner of the Toho Challenge. Her win was a trip to Japan. She graciously asked me to be her guest. It was an amazing event in both of our lives. So it doesn't surprise me she would create something to remind me of that time together. How beautiful is this?
Thanks Charmaine.

DO YOU BEADWEAVE?

Hi Everyone!

Do you beadweave? Always wanted to attempt beadweaving? Or you already love beadweaving. What ever your answer there is a new book out that should be in every library.

First I have to tell you that the author of this book is a dear friend of mine. One of the first people I met when I moved to Florence. So I might be a little bias. However, the book stands on it's own and I would recommend this book in any case.

This author is a wonderful bead artist, with clear and precise direction in her work. She admits she is addicted to buying beads. We laughed as I said, " The first step to recovery is admitting to the problem."  Along with a great sense of humor, she has a love for life, and lights up a room when she enters. You may already know this lady of beads, her name is
Kelly Angeley and her new book is "explorations in beadweaving"

I am so happy to see this book out. Kelly has brought forth beautiful designs with the weaving techniques that span from time. The colors, the beads, and the shapes are explosive. This book is 160 pages of thorough information. Each of the 19 projects include step by step text and graphic instruction. The inspiration you will find in these pages is unbounded. I highly recommend this book for any level of beader.  A book you will keep on your beading table.

I am honored that Kelly gave me space for Nicole's BeadBacking. Something she didn't tell me she was doing. She really does use it in all of her bead art, classes and her generous beading kits.

You can purchase "explorations in beadweaving" through Amazon.com or directly from Kelly in her etsy store

DO YOUR QUILL? AS IN PORCUPINE QUILLS

Hi Everyone!
The word busy doesn't even come close to what is happening here. LOL No.... I am not all settled in yet. It seems the last of the things are getting put aside to take care of other things. Hhmmm that's called life right? LOL
So this is the time of year that my Native soul comes out. I guess because of hunting and tanning my own hides and getting ready for winter. Although I have not been able to do the above things here in Florence. I miss the mountains of North Idaho where I had the land and space to be part of Earth. One of the things that is dear to my heart is Traditional and contemporary Porcupine quill work. You can find some basic instructions for this in my "FlatWork" book. Porcupine quills are used for so many art projects now. The best place to purchase them is from One Dancing Crow. This wonderful lady has spent over 18 years developing and refining the dying technique for the quills. You can match beads to her colors. She still works in her own kitchen over hot pots and oven. It is a tedious process. Then she hand counts the quills for each bag sold. So who is One Dancing Crow?? She is Sarah Tronti and she is my mom. If you want top quality quills for any art project then contact Sarah through her etsy store onedancingcrow.etsy.com or her website sevenwindsleather.com
Here are just a few of the colors numerous colors available.

Also African Porcupine Quills

In addition Sarah carries, leather, animal furs and claws, bones, craft books, and a touch of her own polymer art.
Sarah sells all over the world where it is allowed and to the movie industry for make up design.

Remember to all who work with animal parts,
it is to honor the animal!!!

ALMOST DONE

Hi Everyone!!!
I know I know, it has been sporadic on my blog posts. Busy doesn't even come close to what life has been the last two months. It is starting to settle down now and I can actually see the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. The art room is set and today I will have my sewing room finished. Yeahhh a separate sewing room!!!
So what have all of you been up to? Leave a comment to let me know.
I wanted to remind all of you who loom bead or square stitch that it is time to get your Halloween beading patterns. Check out skulls, bats, pumpkins, eyes and other Halloween patterns at our Beadwright Etsy Store.
Here are just a few samples

Have a very nice day

WE ARE UP AND RUNNING

Hi Everyone!

We are up and running.....well walking fast would be more like it LOL
Our beautiful new house is starting to look like a home and with a few more shelves installed today my studio will be finished as well. It has been a long journey just moving next door but well worth it. I love this house!!!
So with that I just wanted to let all of you know that my Beadwright etsy store and my
Beadwright website are both open now. To celebrate, all of Nicole's BeadBacking (NBB) is on sale at 30% off. It is all marked down so you don't have to worry about coupon codes. One glitch.... I am temporarily out of Dove Grey and Pretty Pink so the "set" prices have been adjusted.

Back to work a few more days and it will all be done.
Have a very nice weekend

Marcia DeCoster's Bead In Motion

Hi Everyone!

Before we moved I received two books from Lark Jewelry and Beading. The first is Marcia DeCoster's Beads In Motion, and will be the book I tell you about today.
Now, one can't go wrong with a DeCoster beading book so right off you should have this book in your library. There are 24 very exciting beading projects. The step by step instructions are easy to read. The graphics are clear and precise, showing thread movement and direction. Once you begin making these projects you will be thrilled that some of them move, spin, and slide. The beading techniques are well know, however are elevated to create fun jewelry pieces.
This book contains instructions on rings, bracelets, earrings, and necklaces that can all be worn with just about any outfit.
If you are still hesitant in creating some or all of Marcia's designs, then take a look at the artists who have contributed to the gallery section. Stunning pieces that will motivate you to get the beads out and start creating!
