HOT SUNNY DAYS IN FLORENCE ORE

Hi Everyone!

I guess  I just need to paint more umbrella paintings to get hot sunny days here in Florence ORE. LOL Yesterday there was no wind, it was hot hot hot sunny sunny sunny and I spent most of the day on my back deck soaking it all in. OK so I read there is a heat wave for the Inland and Pacific Northwest along with the Southwest. I will take all the sunny days I can get. Today seems a bit cooler but the sun is out. Hurrraaayyyy............... Thanks to all of you wishing me warm sunny days.

Hi Everyone!

 

OK I had a great day today and lately great days have been far and few.

I am able to walk with a new nerve tonic and some orthotics that are keeping my feet straight, plus splints that I wear at night. Ohhhh how fun is that NOT!!! LOL However, I am walking without much pain and that is the best ever!!!!

 

I was able to get a few new cabs when I was in Southern OR. They are large and full of earthy depth.

GEM FAIRE

Hi Everyone!

 

Gem Faire will be in Eugene, OR the first week of July. This is mainly a west coast event. There are a few inland shows as well. I try to make it every year. It is a great place to buy pretty much wholesale and meet up with lots of beady friends. This year in Eugene the dates are July 5,6, and 7.

Also in July 12-14 Portland, OR, 19-21 Lynden, WA and 26-28 Spokane, WA.

I AM HOME AND WHIPPED LOL

Hi Everyone!

 

Just a note to let you know I am home. My mom is doing great and I know that a good part of that is form the hundreds of prayers, well wishes, and healing energy that has been sent to us. Thank you so much to all of you.

I am whipped to say the least LOL,  however, I am so glad I was able to spend the last week with my mom and to see that she is well.

For all of you wanting to know when I will reopen, I did just that a minute ago for my

Beadwright etsy store.  My Beadwright website will reopen this weekend.

I WANTED TO LEAVE ON A HAPPY NOTE NEW BOOK BEAD EMBROIDERY

I wanted to leave for my mom's on a happy note.

Last year, through cyberspace, I met a most remarkable lady. Her name is Genevieve Crabe and she resides in Canada. The reason we came together? Nicole's BeadBacking. It still amazes me how many incredibly wonderful people I have met through NBB. OK, so on with the story. Genevieve was in the process of writing a book. She decided to use NBB for all of her projects. How humbled am I?

BEADWRIGHT CLOSING JUST FOR AWHILE

Hi Everyone!

I guess the powers that be know when to make one strong of body and mind. I will be leaving Mike again, to go and care for my mom. She is not doing well and..... I need to be there with her. Sooooo. My Beadwright etsy store and Beadwright website will be closed until I return. Because I am in the middle of a sale on my Nicole's BeadBacking I will continue the sale when I reopen. She is 83 and pretty healthy with the exception of her lungs. She is having a very difficult time.

Hi Everyone!

Last evening there was a knock on my door and then the roar of the UPS truck driving off.  I wasn’t expecting anything. I think that is the best time for the UPS man to knock on your door. Awwwhhh, there was a large, golden envelope lying against the porch wall.  I knew then it was a new book from Sterling publications and Lark Jewelry & Beading. I ripped open the top of the package and to my delight inside was   “Soutache” by Anneta Valious. I have been waiting patiently for this book. Through email I spoke to Anneta last year so I knew this book was coming. I am thrilled to be one of the reviewers for this magnificent book.

So let’s get started.  If you don’t know what Soutache is, Anneta explains the history and modern day uses of the elegant art with text and striking photographs.  If you are old enough you may remember Soutache on your grandmother’s coat and we all know Soutache on Military uniforms. Today Soutache is one of the fastest growing jewelry techniques in the world. The combination of colorful Soutache cords, beads and cabochons has intrigued designers from the fashion industry to the home artists. Now you can learn from one of the best.  Anneta’s book takes you from start to finish on creating 30 stunning pieces of jewelry. What I found most appealing is that Anneta shows her readers old time techniques that “new” beaders and jewelry makers have not been taught, however, makes all the difference in creating a professional piece of jewelry.  Once you have this incredible book in your hands you will not be able to put it down. The photographs, which are also taken by Anneta, capture all the colors, shapes, twists, and turns of the Soutache cords.  Needle placement is most important in Soutache sewing and again Anneta takes great pains in explaining and showing how to accomplish this. In my own bead art, and in my classes I teach that the back of a piece must be a perfect as the front. Anneta agrees and explains excellent finished work.  For me, this is one of the best instructional books out, a refreshing insight on an old art form. If you have any interest in Soutache at all this is the book you must have. Innovated, seriously fun, and will inspire you from the depths.

FOXY EPOXY BOOK REVIEW

Hi Everyone!

 

I am getting myself back to being on line a bit more and catching up with all of you. Thank you for all of the wonderful get well wish and blessings.

 

A few weeks ago I received a new book from Lark. Foxy Epoxy by Kristal Wick.

I have to say first off that I have worked with epoxies for many years. So to see a book that actually targets the dos n don'ts is very refreshing.

There are 44 projects created by 12 well known artists. Each project is designed to help you go one step further. I like that. These projects are full of icy crystals and bling galore. Once you learn the techniques in this 135 page book you will be able to create the items you have only been dreaming of.

Space....The Final Frontier....

I love astronomy and SF movies.
For this contest i was inspired by the Star Trek series,
when the Enterprise met the Borg for the first time.

The cuff is made with all kinds of stuff and materials, and beaded on the fantastic Nicole's BeadBacking by Nicole ( NBB) in a rich dark brown color.

The inside is done with soft leather.
