A CALL FOR ARTISTS

Hi Everyone!
It is the weekend already. I think I am glad though. It feels like a day to create. So if you are in that mood as well then read my Call for Artists.

Nicole's BeadBacking
By Nicole Campanella's Beadwright
NBB
A call for Artists
Show me how you use Nicole's BeadBacking. We at Beadwright are looking for the unusual, the unexpected, and the most creative way to use Nicole's BeadBacking for an upcoming how-to booklet. If you use NBB in an unexpected way of beading, painting on, making 3-d designs, hand bags, sewing, graphing, stamping, cards, journals, and what ever else you use NBB for, then join in. Take two in progress photos and one finished project photo. Do not manipulate the photos. They must be taken at the highest quality on your camera then put them to a CD or DVD disk. In addition, write an explanation on how you made the project in 900 words or less. This is not a step by step rather an inspirational booklet. If your project is chosen you will receive a free booklet and a set of Nicole's BeadBacking along with your contact information in the booklet.
Please remember to put your name, mailing address, email address and web sites on each of the projects you send in. There is no limit on project entries and no entry fees. Dead line is December 1, 2012

If you are interested email me for more details

RAVEN IN BEADS FINISHED

Hi Everyone!

I have been busy busy busy today. I wanted to post the Raven in Beads this morning but time got away from me. Then I was off to have lunch with my beading pals. Home to do.... what ever.... and now I am finally on line. Wheewwww.... all of that to show you my finished piece.
Yesterday's post showed you the loomed beading which only took about 30 minutes. While a piece of deer hide was soaking I added some embellishments to the loom work. Then sculpted the leather and set the loom piece in place. Removed the loom piece then dry the leather. It only take a few minutes with the heat gun. Attach the bead piece and add more embellishments.
A very nice fall wall hanging for just about any room
Hope you enjoy the process and the piece.

Added the edging and embellishments
Soak, stretch and lightly sculpt the leather. I always work this on a marble slab
especially when drying the leather

And here you have it all finished

RAVEN IN BEADS

Hi Everyone!

I am currently working on a large piece that will take some time. So in the mix I throw in smaller, fast to create pieces. Yesterday afternoon I started on this. Working beads on our bead loom is fast and easy and within 30 minutes this little guy was made. He comes from part of a pattern I have in my Beadwright etsy store. I will remove him from the loom today and finish the piece. Then go back to my larger works. Our Mini looms make this kind of project so easy to accomplish. If you have not worked on a beading loom or need a new one we have them in three different sizes. Check them out in my Beadwright etsy store.
Wishing all of you a happy day

First row on our mini loom

So easy to see results right away

I worked him from the opposite direction of the pattern. So easy to change things up on Looms by Mike

 Almost done

 One more row

Looms by Mike 2 foot, 1 foot and our Mini Loom

I have patterns in my Beadwright etsy store or my Beadwright Bead Coop

JEWELRY AND HUSBANDS

Hi Everyone!

I should be cleaning my house but I am finding soooo many other things to do instead. LOL Like showing you how goofy my husband is. And then maybe not.
The other day I finished a necklace and posted it on my blog. Mike is so taken with this piece that he said he wanted it. OK so you must know that Mike is my best advertisement. He wears a piece of my jewelry everyday and hands out my business cards like candy. Hey I love that he does that.
So while he was trying on this necklace I grabbed my camera. There are some pretty funny posses but I think I will save those for me... ahhhh like some black mail photos hee hee hee. However, after really looking, this piece does look good on a guy.
What do you think?

SHRINK SHRANK SHRUNK Book Reveiw

Hi Everyone!

I recieved this book from Lark Jewelry and Beading and was totally surprised. Happily surprised! We all remember shrink plastic, anyway I do from when I was a kid, and over the last 10 years I have seen some pretty interesting projects made from this fun plastic. This book written by Kathy Sheldon makes me want to go out and buy some shrink plastic. Shrink Shrank Shrunk is a fabulous book for so many reasons. First Kathy has a fun and energetic writing skill. Then her explaination of what shrink plastic is was very clear and interesting. Knowing your product and it history is so important in any craft or art.  Her suply list is probably things you already have. There are fun projects with all the patterns at the end of the book. Do I like this book?  ABSOLUTELY!!! From cover to cover Kathy explains each step and then allows you to add your own touches. If you have ever wanted to use shrink plastic then this book is for you. As I was reading Shrink Shrank Shrunk I could see so  many other uses for shrink plastic. Kathy accomplished what a true craft book writer is supose to do, inspire her reader.

PROJECT RUNWAY HURRRAAAYYY

Hi Everyone!
Hurrraaayyyyyy!!!! I thoroughly enjoyed project runway last night! New York, Radio City Music Hall, The Rockets, how fun to create a costume for the Rockets. I am happy Christoper won and soooooo happy that Ven was eliminated. After he treated his client so poorly it showed his true colors. Now there is an attraction to Dmitry. His design and technique is outstanding and I think he may pull it all out of the bag and be the new winner. If you don't watch Project Runway you should take a look at it. Some great inspiration and let us not forget the drama and the entertainment.
Wishing all of you a very nice day.

WEEKEND IN THE WARM SUN

Hi Everyone!

This weekend Mike and I took our monthly trek to see my mom. She lives in southern OR. where the weather is hot and sunny. I so love and miss that. I am actually sitting in my house now with the heater on. Burrr....
We really had a great weekend. On Saturday we drove over to Jacksonville, OR. If you are in the Medford, OR. area don't miss the short drive over to Jacksonville. The town is on the historic registry and has not only kept up with the history but has made this a attractive and fun place to visit. There so many activities going on, from concerts, to wine tasting and everything in between. An old time trolley ride takes you all through town.  Every weekend of the year has something special going on. The weekend before last Heart preformed. Darn I would have loved that concert. Anyway the day was perfectly warm and sunny. We met some terrific people. Lynn, the owner of the toy store is awesome!
Oh and this toy store is not the typical mall toy store.

Jacksonville Inn is the place to eat. Excellent food and service. We sat on the patio very nicely decorated.
 Mom and Mike
Lynn owner of the toy store. She is an energetic fun lady.

When we arrived back at mom's we had a visitor. I spent all afternoon/evening with this little guy. I set up a bucket of water, some apples from the tree, and some large rock salt.
The perfect ending to a great day.

A little spike

 How beautiful is he?

He was so happy in the yard and not afraid of me at all. That might not be too good. Hunting season is coming soon.

I got tons of photos. He bedded down in the trees and was gone in the morning.

Hope your weekend was as nice.
