LARK BOOKS HAS DONE IT AGAIN

Hi Everyone!

I have actually been waiting for this new book from Lark Beading and Jewelry.

Beautiful Beaded Ropes by Jill Wiseman.

There are a lot of books on the market for beaded ropes however, this one encompasses the most popular stitches with the most popular beads to create stunning neck pieces. But that is not all. Jill takes her ideas a step further. Every page will encourage you to create not just ropes for necklaces, but bracelets, earrings, and even the ever popular big ring. I like that this book is sectioned into different bead stitches. Each section has several projects in that particular stitch. With Peyote, RAW and Netted techniques Jill brings structure, design and color to each piece.

As with all Lark books the instructions are very clear, with outstanding graphics and text. The photography by Lynne Harty is superb. In addition the layout of this book allows easy to follow instructions for each project. This 119 page book includes 24 brilliant projects, 12 pages of supplies, techniques and beads, and 9 pages of gallery art from well known bead artists.

If you have been wanting to add depth, texture and even some excitement to your beading projects then you must have this book. I highly recommend this new book

Jill Wiseman's Beautiful Beaded Ropes.

HELP CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT THIS IS

UP DATE UP DATE
Just as I posted this Lori emailed me with this site. Ahhh the wonders of the Internet. After days of trying to find this berry Lori found this site. Mystery solved

http://biology.burke.washington.edu/herbarium/imagecollection.php?Genus=Clintonia&Species=uniflora

The plant is Clintonia uniflora
Still leave a comment if you have seen this plant in your area

Hi Everyone!
I can't believe this summer (AAAhhh what summer) is just about over. Kids are back in school in some places and it will soon be time to get ready for those cooler days and night. As most of you know
Lori Cook Culligan and I have been very good friends for 14 years or more. She was out and about in my old neck of the woods in North Idaho last weekend when she came across a low bush berry that she had not seen before. She snapped a photo and sent it off to me. As much time as both Lori and I have spent in those woods and mountains neither of us have ever seen this particular plant and berry. I have written to the Coeur d' Alene plant association with no word back yet. So I am asking any of you do you know what this fruit plant is? The color of the berry is soooooooo blue.
It may not be native to North Idaho so any help from any part of the country will be so appreciated.

BEADING LOOMS AND SPIKES

Hi Everyone!
Well I know I have feeling better with all the THINGS I have accomplished this week. PT is working out great too. I should have full strength in my legs very soon. Yeahhhh!!!
So what have we been doing here. Ahhhhh a new tutorial for all of those of you who love working with Czech spikes and a new size of beading loom.

So how many of you have a difficult time making bezels on glass shapes. You know the beads slip off and well it can be frustrating. So why not use Nicole's BeadBacking as a foundation and create the things you like. I have been using this method for many years showing my students this technique. These are fast and easy to make. You should know flatwork and peyote, even though I do show the basics for these stitches in the tutorial. I have used these for button, sewn onto jackets, jewelry and so much more. You can purchase this tutorial in my Beadwright Etsy Store or my Beadwright BeadCoop

Over the summer months I have been asked to come up with a very small beading loom to simply make wrist bands, anklets, and pieces for medicine or treasure bags. Even though we do have a one foot loom it is as wide as our two foot loom. So as of yesterday we now make and sell our Mini Loom. This is 11 inches long and 4 inches wide. Perfect for beading in the car or airplane. Each of our looms are hand made with American pine. Not manufactured by machines.
You can get all three sizes of Looms By Mike in our Beadwright etsy store
and remember each loom comes with a started kit and you may choose one free pattern

SHOES AND FOOT BINDING

Hi Everyone!
You all know how much I love the wild, artful, shoes that are out today. The shapes, colors, and the height of them fascinate me. It amazes me that women actually wear these shoes. Everyone knows who Lady Gaga is, here are a few photos of her shoes. There were many photos of her falling in these shoes as well.

To me these are beautiful shoes and I would love to own any of them. However, not to wear. While I was at my mom's this last week, we went through boxes of old photos. One album we found is the account of my grandmother's second husband's time over seas in WWII. One photo was so upsetting. It was a photo of a Chinese woman's bare bound feet. When I saw the photo it sent chills up my spine. Over the week I thought of all the crazy things we do to out bodies especially our feet. So my question is, are wearing shoes like these a form of foot binding in a less extreme? We know that shoes like these deform and cripple the feet.
Tell me your thoughts
Here is a link for Chinese Foot Binding. Very good history information.
No I won't post the photo I have it is very disturbing.

PROJECT RUNWAY SHAME SHAME SHAME

Hi Everyone!
As you know I am an avid Project Runway viewer. Most of the time I find it entertaining, impressive, and inspiring. Last night I want to reach into the TV and slap Ven right up side is block head. The show was about regular people bringing in a friend for a make over. All the women were beautiful. Ven was upset that he didn't get a "model size" lady and really treated his client terribly. He actually humiliated her at every turn and of course made a dress from hell. I seriously don't know how he stayed on the show this week.
Also he doesn't think he did anything wrong.
Watch the full show here

Shame on you Ven. I was voting for you until last night. And uhhmmm have you looked in the mirror lately?

This is Terry, Ven's client for the show. She is a beautiful woman. Ven's clothing NOT!

OREGON COAST DINOSAURS

Hi Everyone!
I am so hoping that all of you are having good days, full of energy, health, and some love in there too.
I was so lucky to meet up with several of my friends here in Florence the other day. It felt sooo good to just relax and laugh. Today is my first day of PT. I am  believing that it will all have a good outcome and I will be walking with the best of you very soon.
In my last post I mentioned we went to visit my mom. We took the coast road from Florence to Brookings. It was the perfect day for it. One of the stops we made was a prehistoric garden located between Port Orford and Gold Beach. Sooo much fun you must stop there if you find yourself in this area.
Come on who can pass up dinosaurs at any age??
Wishing all of you a happy day

My kind a guy
I should have had Mike move the car

A WEEKEND WITH MOM

Hi Everyone!

I sure hope all of you had a nice weekend. OK so it isn't quite over with yet. On Thursday Mike and I drove down coast from Florence to Brookings, OR. Then cut over inland to my mom's. It was the perfect day for that. The sun was shinning most of the time. (RARE for the coast. LOL) We made a few stops and just took our time. It was great!!! Mom always has nice hot sunny summers so I was in a bit of heaven there. We did the normal things like shopping, hair cuts and some art. On Saturday we put "Games of Thrones" in the DVD player and went through boxes of old photos. Some treasures for sure. These two are dedicated to my friend Daggi waaay over there in Germany. We share the love of archery so I thought I would post these.
1988 in North Idaho.

Don't quite know what that stance is but I do remember we all ate grouse for dinner. Yum Yum
Wish I still had those baggy clothes.

My Nan was 83 years old and still going strong. She made some pretty decent shots. My Nan passed a few years ago at the age of 104. She is still my inspiration.

CABOCHON CRAZY??

Hi Everyone!!!

OMG I have really gone cab crazy. That's OK who doesn't need cabs. I really love the Agate slabs especially if they  have lots of druzy in them. Some of the cabs I listed last night are druzy wonder lands and perfect for any beading project but especially flatwork or bead embroidery. I also have two slabs of Paiute Agate unpolished. The Agate was originally mined by the Paiute Indians in Southern Oregon. The cab sale will continue through Sunday. Here are just a few of the is available.

THE OLD IS STILL VIABLE

Hi Everyone!
This morning I visited my dear friend Marie Segal from Art From My Heart. Marie is an amazing artist and just a very nice lady. Please go over to say hello to her.
Ok sooo Marie blogged today with on old post of hers. I thought what a great idea. I have new followers that may not have gone back to those older readings of mine. So this week I will be blogging some of my older posts. I will just choose one from each each year I have been blogging and add any new information.
If you think this is a good idea and are going to blog some old posts let me know so I can link up with you.

On 10/16/08 I published this post
Update, I have now been published in 10 different magazines.

The first time any of my designs were published was in 1990. An exhilarating thrill of excitement ran through my entire body. To see the words, "By Nicole Campanella" in print was pretty sweet. Over the years I have been very fortunate, along with some hard work, to have my designs published in six different magazines, several gallery books, online zines, and four of my own books. Now I mention this to say that the excitement of being published has never left me. I still get happy chills that run down my spine. It is so with this excellent publication from the American Gourd Society. I am so impressed with the quality of this magazine and honored that the editors have chosen to use two of my beaded gourd instructions. Each person that I have been in contact with through the American Gourd Society, have gone above and beyond to accommodate me. I thank them for that and for the continuing effort for their organization and magazine. So now take some time to visit The American Gourd Society

I still design beaded gourds
